The Project consists of four new residential buildings and a student commons building on an approximately 4.5-acre sit along Flaherty Road, Rock Ridge Roan and the Sako ith Campus Center. Two of the proposed residential buildings are in North Andover, while the other two and the student commons buildings are in Andover. The residences are designed as 2-3 story buildings accommodating 351 student beds {within approximately 81,000 square feat arranged withIn 4-student and 6-student units. The student commons building is proposed as a three story building accommodating approximately 19,0 O square feet of student life space including a cafe, study lounge, fitness center, studjerot activity space, funr-tion room and offices. Arranged around new quadrangles and walkways, the Prgj2Gt is designed as small-scale to r homes with welcoming front porches and multiple building entries to create a cohesive student residential neighborhood. Simillar to the Student Residences Project completed Irk 2013, the exterior design of the wood-franked resEdences buildings include traditional brick veneer cladding, fiber cement siding, t�adltional architectural roof shingles, and a varied sloped roof lines. The resldentlal buildings include 10 residential assistant units, a residential director apartment, student community space, student life office spacer laundry rooms amd trash recycling facillties. The Project will result in a 5Egd iicant step forward towards reaching the College's enrollment goal of 3,GOO undergraduate students anal Fts goal of housIng 80 percent of undergraduate students on campus by 2021. The North Campus Development Is critical to meet the Increased housing demand the College is already expeHendng as its enrollment growth attracts students from regions across the country. Within the 2013-2014 academic year, the undergraduate student enrollment of the College reached 2,538 students and approximately 73 percent of undergraduate students IEved on campus. In order to enhance the College e perlence for students and remain competitive, while reduckng the numbers of students living in nearby off-campus ncighbarhoods, the College seeks to construct new resEdential communities on campus. As provided Within the technical information, in the application, positive impacts associated with the Project for North Andover include: increased on-carnpus strident housing opportunitres, thus reducing the need for students to seek horsing in nearby neighborhoods, continuation of unique distinctive campus architecture for new campus buildings, • enhanced accessible pedestrian connections from public sidewalks into the project and through campus for students, faculty/staff, nearby residents and visitors, • no impact to North Andover resdential neighborhoods, • no impact to town water supply system, no impact to town sewer system, • no impact to town drainage systems, • no impact to wetland resources, • no impact to histo6c resources, + very minimal impact to nearby traffic, • rninimai impact to campus parking inventory and no impact to neigh boE-ho d parking, • rninimal impact to town, public safety resources as the Merrimack College Police Department will continue to patrol this portion, of campus Fiscal impact Staternent, Fiscal benefits resulting from the Forth Campus Development include the following: • Town fees associated with permitting and construction • Construction jobs • Continued entrancement of the College's reputation and properties • Expanded customer base for local merchants and restaurants due to more students living near North Andover businesses situated along Route 114.
