The purpose of thiss-note to you is to summadw our conclusions and to asshue that we are all in agreement. For the 1.997-98 academic year we armed that resident first year students will be encouraged, via a communication from the Office of Resident Life, to leave their cars at home, there will l no strict requirement for them to do so, however. For the 1998-99 academic year, first year students i[l not be permitted to have vehicles on campus except by special permission. That permission will be granted through a joint decision of the Cliiaf of Public Safety and DireclorofRc dent Life or their delegates. For the 1999- 000 academic year both first and second year students will not be t permitted to have vehicles on cnnpus except by special pemm ssion. Storm water Management Plarn STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAIN MERRIMACK COLLEGE STUDENT HOUSING NORTH ANDOVER, MASSACHUSETTS I. Project Descrfp Ion The proposed project includes the construction of a two building Student Housing Residential trompfax, uIllity infrasiructure, hard scope, and landscape. No project activities will occur within a welland resource area, riverfront area, or buffer zone. 11. Soil Erosion and Sediment Control for this projecl, soil erosion and sediment control will consist of lemporary and permonent devices to stabilize]he site both during and following construction. Temporary devices employed during construction include silt fences, baylbole runoff diversion berms, dust control, and catch basin filters. Following construction, disturbed areas not omupied by impervious surfcsces wi€€ be sic bi€ized by vegetative landscape, m u16irig, looming and seeding. Temporary devices will continue to be mointained +until areas disturbed by construction have been permanently stabilized by vegetative growth. III. Starmweiter Management Two methods will be used tQ manage stormwaler generated by the proied. Roof runoff Will be routed to subs urFace leaching fac11ities for ground infiltration, and surface runoff wilt be conveyed Jo the existing co€lege drainage network 1hroijgh a slandard catch basin/manhole system. Conveying roof runoff to the ground reduces runoff general ion from impervious surfaces compared — to existing conditions. This is attributed to the disp€ocernent of the ex€sting asphalt parking lot by the proposed buildings and associated landscape, Consequently, the pro}ect is categorized as a Redevelopment Project- Standard 7 in the DEP- Stormwater Management Guidelines. To mitigate storm water runoff to the extent pmeeticoble, new catch basins will be designed as deep sump basins with ail and gas hoods to trap pollutants. Improvements to the existing slorm ater system vrilf be occo rnpli shed in the vicinity of the project connection points through inspecting, cleaning, and retrofitting existing catch basin sirucWres to vpgrade pollutant removal performance. .
