I inspected the Water Treatment Plant site an June 20th. Please
address the following issues
1 . The ditch at the base of the excavation spoils one the
southwest portion of the site has been filled in. The purpose of
this ditch is to divert runoff and trap sediment from this fill
material . The ditch must be maintained.
Overflow rom the sedimentation pond nearest the treatment
plaarnt, is, seeping under the silt fence in one location. Pease.

MEMORANDUM
TO: D. Robert Kicetta, Building inspector
FROM: Arne Kasprzyk, Acting Conservation Administrator
DATE: October- 9, 1991
SUBJECT: Water Treatment Plant, DEP File # 4 -421
1 inspected the site on September 27 , 1991 regarding the punch-
list of wor to be done as noted in ray memo dated September 9.
my findings are as follows:
1. The area adjacent to the building at the end of the
stone drainage way is still, sparse. As you noted in our
conversation on October 8 , 1991, placement of
additional stone in this location would be acceptable.
2 . Two inch stone or suitable material has not yet been
placed at the washout area adjacent to the rip-rap
associated, with the backwash outlet. This area rust be
stabilized to prevent further erosion.
3 . The silt boom may be removed after the area adjacent to
the backwash outlet has been stabilized (see #2 above) .
4 . After the ground is somewhat frozen, the silt which has
accunulated in the lake adjacent to the backwash outlet
must be removed. A silt boor must be in place at that
time. The existing silt boom may be inspected and
naintained to this end or, if preferred, the existing
silt boom may be removed after #2 above is accompli8hed
and a new boom emplaced upon the initiation of silt
removal..

Water Treatment 'Plant
Today I inspected ,inn Water Treatment Plant as requested este and have
a following recommendations:
ns:
I• Install another ridge of stuns to act as a baffle within the
stone-lined Swale near the boat ramp, This baffle should be
placed just downgradient of the channel again where it ant rs the
stone-lined Swale, Road sand is accumulating in the channel
drain and will be caught by this new baffle,.
. Remove the silt fence from the boat ramp to the culvert
outlet.
., Monitor the exposed soil that has been covered with day
mulch. This, area should be seeded with grass and at in the
spring if necessary. once grassis growing, remove the hay.
4 . Remove the silk accumulated at the silt forma next to the
culvert outlet at the, lake shore.
,. Keep the silt fence in place from the culvert outlet to the
westerly ro rt boundary. This is particularlyimportant where
a small erosion gualll ► has formed- The gilt fence should be
rewired as it is falling down. I have some concerns as to
whether this area is permanently sfa ilized. The area should be
monitored closely during the spring rains.,
. Next Spring, a strip of vegetation ('as wide as possible)
should remain unmowed next to the 'lake to filter and slow runoff
leaving the site. This should be discussed with whomever is in
is charge of groundskeeping for the site.
