Erich,
I did the bottom of the bed inspection today at 10am and revisited the site around 2-2:30pm. Jonathan and Chad were
working on addressing the boulder you noted that is encroaching into the field. Additionally, there were some large rocks
noted in the bottom of the bed. Some of these (towards the center) had been removed. I noted a few to Jonathan in the
afternoon that remained. Please ensure these are removed from the bottom of the bed. I have CC'd both Jonathan and
Chad on this email to help facilitate communication.
As for the boulder, please keep me up to date on what the plan is moving forward. I know Jonathan was going to work on
removing as much as possible first today. If you could touch base with me tomorrow morning on how that went or a plan,
that would be ideal.
I will wait to hear from you and/or the installer. As a general note, I will be out of the office beginning tomorrow afternoon
through Thursday, but will do my best to make myself available by email.
Sincerely,
Stephen Casey Jr.

Good morning Stephen -thanks for coming back yesterday. I had left site just before 4pm for a meeting and returned
around 5pm. Erich visited the site in that window and inspected the bottom of bed. I spoke with him on the phone and he
said there is one more pocket of organic soil that should be removed, which will be completed after the portion of the
boulder is removed. I started hammering the boulder from 3pm to 4pm, and continued from 5pm to 6pm and most of it is
removed. I expect to be finished by 9:30 this morning so if we could have another inspection around lunch time that would
work out well.
Before confirming the order of the hammer rental yesterday I spoke to Brian LaGrasse just to be sure of the extend of the
boulder that would need to be removed. He said he is OK with the portion of the boulder in the overdig area to remain as
long as Erich is OK with that too, and he is- Erich can you please confirm that in a reply-all to this email?
Lastly, I was able to excavate the rocks that you had pointed out to me yesterday. Both were loose -one was small and
basically on the surface, the other was a bit larger and took a little persuasion to remove -but both have been
addressed.
Thank you,
Jonathan Grasso

Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for the update. If Erich confirms that he is fine with a portion of the boulder remaining in the overdig, that is fine
with me. And that's great, I'm glad the rocks were not too much of a hassle to remove.
What time would you like to set for the reinspection? Does 12pm work for you? I can also take a look at the sample of
sand on site to make sure it appears to meet Title 5 requirements. Please make sure the bed bottom is scarified after that
last pocket of organic soil is removed, and as long as all other items discussed are addressed we should be good to go.
Thank you,
Stephen

I can make it out shortly after 12pm today to take a look. Please ensure, as discussed, the pit is free of large rocks
(generally, anything over 6 inches in size),the areas noted by Erich and myself have been addressed, and the entire
bottom of the bed has been scarified. If any issues arise affecting the re-inspection time, please let me know. A member
of our contracted septic company will be in town later today and can take a look if any area is not in compliance.

Gentlemen,
Good to have all this communication.
With my inspection yesterday at 4 pm, I took notice of some
organic soil removed and a portion of the boulder hammered.
My thoughts and requests are....
1 . I'm good with the boulder hammered out as long as the
boulder is not within the primary or reserve trench area. If the
boulder can be hammered further to give some comfort room for
the side wall leaching area, I'm good. In my opinion, the boulder
can lay within the 5 foot over dig sand fill area.
2. 1 prefer more organic sub soil to be removed from the first 20-
30 feet of the system area nearest the house prior to sand fill
placement.
3. The track machine sits in the excavation hole packing the soil.
When the machine exits the excavation hole, the entire bottom
area should be scarified and loosen.
4. 1 would prefer to inspect the bottom area when this is
completed prior to any placement of the Title 5 sand fill. I should
be available afternoon.
5. With my initial inspection on Sunday, grades with a level
instrument revealed the bottom at or near elevation 103.9 to
104.7 ft. The bottom is at the appropriate elevation. A little more
organic soil removal should be made.
believe I have everything covered.
The Board of Health seems to concur as well.
Thank you.

Erich,
I re-inspected the bottom of the bed today at 12pm. The boulder that was causing issue as it protruded into the field was
noticeably reduced in size, and at its current length seems to only be in the overdig (see image).
There was one pocket of large rock I noted today that was roughly 18-20 feet from the side of the field away from the
house (see image attached). I noted this to Jonathan so that it could be removed for your follow up inspection today.
Please verify this was removed upon your return. There were also additional areas of stone in the last 20-30 feet of the
field nearest the house that should be removed (some of this can be seen in the image with the boulder measurement).
Jonathan noted these would be removed once you came out to see if more sub soil needed to be removed.
The bottom of the bed was scarified on my visit, and outside of what is noted above I did not note any major issues. Once
the above issues are addressed and you are all set with your inspection, they have my permission to bring Title 5
compliant sand in.The sample load they had on site was acceptable today. As a reminder, Chad is the licensed installer
on this project and therefore he must build/install the remainder of the system. For future inspections, he can contact me
via phone or email.
Finally, if any issues arise today or moving forward please notify the Health Department as soon as possible. I will be at a
conference this afternoon until Thursday, but will try to make myself accessible by email (and, if feasible, phone). Please
send me a follow up email once you are all set with your inspection today.
Thank you,
Steve

Steve,
I visited the site at 5 pm yesterday.
The boulder is definitely been hammered and removed from the primary trench and also appears to be cut well back to
the edge of the 5ft sand fill area.
The large broken pieces of rock shown in your photos on the bottom of excavation appear to be removed also.
I walked inside the excavation hole and observed the remnants of organic subsoil soil removed down to the parent"C"
soil. The bottom of the excavation hole was entirely scarified and looks good. The soil on the bottom is very loose/soft
and there were no signs of compaction from the excavator machine.
The excavation hole was dug out to accommodate the trenches as well as the 5 ft sand fill area.
The sample of sand fill near the garage corner was inspected to be clean with no signs of silt or clay.
In my opinion, the excavation hole is ready for sand fill to be imported and placed.
I would like to thank you and Jonathan for the communication and cooperation in coordinating the inspections in
approving the conditions for the installation of the leaching field.
Chad,
Please review the approved septic plan for the next inspection. Once the trenches and the perforated pipes are installed
along with the D. Box, I will need to perform a water flow test to verify equal distribution and outlet invert elevations.
Thank you gentlemen.

Hey Stephen, Jonathan and I are going to put the tank in on Monday morning. It's gonna be a two compartment H-20
monolithic tank with gas baffles on both compartments. Can we get a bottom of tank inspection Monday morning early?
Also, can you get me answer on the pressure test?

Hi Chad,
Monday morning should not be a problem. I am in at 8am and can do the tank hole inspection anytime after that. I
checked and you do not need the pressure test. Please ensure the tank is installed per the approved plan.
Best,
Steve

Yes, thank you plenty of stone underneath. Using an h-20 in case of the off chance a piece of equipment needs to move
around the lot. Engineer shouldn't have a problem but will check with him
