Review the 3 designer submissions
The Committee reviewed the highlights of each proposals.
. They do not have any MSBA experience. They
had very good references. Steve Foster raised the concern that the size of the projects they have done in the past
are smaller in size. Also, with a bid firm will the Town get the attention we deserve? Colliers has worked with them
in the past.
Machado Silvetti did the feasibility study for 400 Great Pond Road. Laura Bates stated that their application was
well done. The Committee liked how they talked about designing for North Andover and not a portfolio project.
Laurie Burzlaff stated she liked the fact that they were a smaller firm. Steve Foster mentioned the lack of MSBA
experience.
Mount Vernon Group is currently doing the Middle School and did the Facilities Master Plan II. The size of past
projects is comparable with the Kittredge Project. They have a lot of MSBA experience. Mr. Palumbo stated that
they do traditional designs which keeps costs down and the buildings that are easy to build. They are conservative
with their estimates so have come under budget on projects. Laura Bates asked if it would be harder for them to
take input because they already did the master plan and have an idea for Kittredge. Mr. Palumbo explained that
MSBA requires them to come up with several scenarios. Steve Foster stated that unless the other two came in
extremely strong, we should stick with what we know. It was noted that Kittredge will be more complex than the
Middle School project.
Eva Hamori stated that non-MSBA firms may be the hungriest because they want to get their foot in the door.
There is more at stake for them to do a good job.
Mr. Palumbo explained that MSBA will send a list of five questions and we can have input on some of them.
Website update
Jessica Drummond stated that the website is now live. They are working on getting a shorter URL link. There will be
a link to the meeting minutes added. The committee was asked to review and provide any feedback to Colliers.
Committee members indicated a problem with viewing on a phone or tablet. Colliers will work with IT to figure out
best place for visibility and reading on devices.
