`there are wetlands to the right of the parking lot, but the proposed work is outside of the 100' buffer zone. Additional
work that occurs within the 100' buffer zone will require a Conservation filing.

Monica,
The FD has the following requests:
1.What, if any, fire detection/protection equipment will be added for the elevator lobby[s]and/or shaftway?
2. Confirm the size of the elevator and whether or not it will accommodate an FD ambulance stretcher. Use 2015 IBC
3002.4 strictly as size reference for stretcher if needed.
3. Since it appears modifications are being made to exterior of building, perform a swept analysis to confirm F'D will
have 360 degree access around building upon completion of proposed work

Monica,
Apologies for the repeated updates but I neglected to mention that the sprinkler system will need to be monitored. They
will also need to have a fire alarm system in place, or installed, that can transmit alarms as well as supervisory and
trouble notifications to an approved receiving station/location.

Monica,
Please see my below replies in bold and red text after the open questions.
The FD has the following requests:
What, if any, fire detection/protection equipment wilt be added for the elevator lobby[s] and/or shaftway? Per below,
the lobby, shaft way, and mechanical room will be covered as required by automatic sprinkler system and/or
upgraded fire detection monitoring system.
Confirm the size of the elevator and whether or not it will accommodate an FD ambulance stretcher. Use 2015 IBC
3002.4 strictly as size reference for stretcher if needed. The inside usable elevator dimensions are 5'-8" wide x 7'-9
1/2" deep. IBC code also requires a 3500 lbs capacity elevator. The elevator I am installing is rated for4500
capacity. The installed elevator will accommodate the required stretcher and a full crew. As a aside, it will also
be furnished with a backup battery powered lowering system in the case of power loss.
Since it appears modifications are being made to exterior of building, perform a swept analysis to confirm FD will have
360 degree access around building upon completion of proposed work. The FD will have complete 360 degree access
to building upon completion of work, I am not sure what your are asking of my as submitted architectural plans
show all proposed work and nothing would alter that 360 access. Please advise.
The following comment was provided after the initial round of review:
The Chief and I were talking about this project this morning and he noticed that the proposed addition would put the
gross sq ft size of the building over 7500 sq ft. On page two of the 'Special Permit Application", item 10 states the
building is currently 7539 sq ft and item 11 states it will increase to 7834 with the addition. I drove by today to check
and did not see a FD connection for a sprinkler system, so we're guessing they aren't already in place there for
whatever reason. Per MGL 148 section 26G, 'Every building or structure, including any additions or major alterations
thereto, which totals in the aggregate, more than 7500 gross square feet in floor area shall be protected throughout
with an adequate system of automatic sprinklers in accordance with the state building code.' Thus it is the FD's opinion
that for this project proceed, they will need to install an automatic sprinkler system. They will also need to have a
fire alarm system in place, or installed, that can transmit alarms as well as supervisory and trouble notifications to an
approved receiving station/location. I am installing an automatic wet sprinkler system throughout the entire
building. This is currently out to bid and I am happy to share layout plans etc when a subcontractor is chosen for
the work. Also, the existing fire alarm system will be upgraded and expanded to cover the addition, and comply
with current town signal transmission requirements to town approved receiving station.
Regards,
Mike

Monica,
Looking at this quickly I do think a poor review should be performed just to check the infiltration calculations/cultec
chamber sizing calculations submitted.
Thanks.

Monica,
I apologize for the delay on this as it has been crazy over here.
That said I have the following comments on this proposal:
1. Per Section 195 8.5 Off Street parking - Design Standards the maximum width of driveway opening at the curb line is
25 feet(see attached), The applicant is proposing 27 fool width.
2. This area is within the gas disaster area and the Town is looking into the restoration of the roadways and sidewalks in
this area. The Applicant needs to coordinate any work being done with the DPW so we can understand how this work will
coordinate with the road waylsidewalk restoration work.
Please lot me know if you have any questions on either comment.
Thanks.
