Re: Orchard Hill
Dear Mr, Chairman:
New England Engineering Services Inc. has been retained by Mr. Thomas Zahoruiko to witness
four deep test pits at Parcel 1-2A of the Orcard Hill Subdivision. The purpose of the test pits was
to determine the seasonal high ground water elevation at each of the four proposed locations for
underground storm water leaching. The pits were logged by Benjamin C. Osgood, Jr.,a certified
soil evaluator in the state of Massachusetts.
Four test pits were done and their locations are shown on the enclosed plan. Also enclosed are
copies of four soil logs that were done on the DEP forms used by soil evaluators when doing deep
pits for septic systems.
If you need any additional information regarding these pits, please do not hesitate to contact this
office. This office is not taking over any other responsibility in regards to permitting of this project.
Any questions on any other matter regarding this site should be directed to the engineer that has
been working on this project to date.
Sincerely,
Benjamin C. Osgood, Jr.,EIT
President

RE: Engineering Review
Orchard Hill Road
Industrial Subdivision Definitive Plan
Dear Members of the Board:
We have received the Planning Board's Conditional Approval for the above noted
subdivision and copies of two letters dated May 15, 1997 from Tara Leigh Development
Corp. to the Board, This correspondence.follows the item numbering in the conditional
approval letter format. We understand the Mayl 5, 1997 letter will be considered a
modification to the existing plaits which we currently hold.
Plans Dititled:
0 "flan of Land located in North Andover"three sheets revision date 5/19/97,
Prepared by Scott L. Giles,R.P.L.S.,frank S, Giles,
According to the conditional approval letters, the following design conditions are to be
addressed prior to endorsement of the plans,
La.) Vertical curve data should include PVT,K values, proposed slopes at terminus, etc,
This data was not provided,
tb.) It was agreed to provide aright-foot shoulders 1'or the new section of roadway with a
transition to the eight feet from the existing pavelnent. The proposed roadway width
scales from 40' to 43'. 'The shoulder width varies from approximately 5' at the northwest
property corner to approximately 10' at the northeast property Corner, The Board should
determine if'this is consistent with the condition,
l.c.) The grading within the northern shoulder area has not been revised. Currently, the
proposed 92' contour ties into the existing 90' contour at station 2+00. The proposed 96' f
contour does not tie into the existing 96' contour. It is unclear if an easement will be
required to perfonn this grading. Contours are also mislabeled on the westerly side of the
MVFCU property.
l,d,) The applicant must demonstrate that the existing storm water system can
accommodate the Additional I:low from the newly constructed roadway for this project,

Calculations from the original approved subdivision were not submitted for our review.
In addition, calculations were not submitted to this office for the proposed roadway
I11yout. Reportedly, the proposed site design reduces the flow to the roadway,

this information is sufficient for your needs. If you have ally questions please do not
