Meeting Minutes
May 6, 2024
Present: Laurie Burzlaff, Laura Bates, Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues, Richard Cushing, Pamela Lathrop, Maureen
Sakakeeny, Eva HamoriJim Mealey, Phil Palumbo, Trey Logie and Brady Doyle from Colliers
Project Leaders, Jeffry Burchard and Stephanie Randazzo Dwyer from Machado Silvetti.
Absent: Diana Beckley, Dave Brown, Kathleen Colwell and Steve Foster
Meeting was called to order by Laura Bates at 4:05PM in the Select Board Meeting Room at Town Hall.
Vote to approve minutes of April 2, 2024
Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues made a motion, seconded by Maureen Sakakeeny, to approve the minutes of April 2,
2024. Motion approved 9-0.
Budget update
Phil Palumbo provided an update on the budget. Receive first bill from Machado. Project is on budget and have
$69,000 left after the 3 proposals being discussed later in the meeting.
Schedule update
Stephanie Randazzo Dwyer reviewed the schedule. Working on educational visioning, programming, evaluation of
existing conditions and site development requires. PDP is due to MSBA on July 18, 2024. Workshops scheduled for
th
5/15, 5/29 and 6/12. A community forum is scheduled for June 10.
Review and vote on Machado additional services proposals
Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment Proposal- Cost is $2,750.00. This is Phase I to get information on the site.
If something is discovered, there will be a Phase 2.

Hazardous Material Survey Proposal- The cost is $6,682.50 for testing.

Site Survey Proposal- Cost is $20,900 to do a full survey of the site.

Education visioning update
A kick off meeting was held. Need to get names of participants for the 3 meetings. Participants should committee
to attending all 3 meetings. Richard will work on getting those commitments. Currently 10 staff, 5 parents and 2
community members have committed. Richard send out information to all staff and parents.
Feasibility study update
Machado visited the site for 2 days over April vacation. Machado has formed 4 working groups that they need to
meet with. Richard will work on getting the groups scheduled. Machado needs envelope requirements for
sustainability. The town is a Green Community. The school has a Green Team led by a teacher. Stephanie
reviewed the 4 options they need to study- code upgrade, renovation/addition, new building and alternative sites.
Foster farm is located outside of the Kittredge area. The high school does not have the space and the other town
owned sites in the Kittredge area are conservation land.
Jeffry Burchard explained that Machado will make the case for why deviations from MSBA standards are important
to Kittredge. The meetings will help start the conversation about the schematic design. A list of ineligible spaces is
on MSBA website.
For the community engagement workshop, the building committee chair or superintendent will kick off the
presentation. Building committee members should be there.
