Project permit application for construction of a deck within the 100' Buffer Zone to wetlands on their property. This deck work consists of after-the- fact demolition of a preexisting deck, and approved construction of a new 10' x 10' deck and stairs in a different location. At its closest, the new deck will be approximately 71.5' from the wetland resource area at the rear of the property. The previous deck footprint was 55' from the same wetland resource area. Straw wattle erosion controls are already installed between the wetland resource area and the deck work. The new deck will consist of pressure-treated lumber and have three new footings. During the August 28, 2024 public meeting, the North.Andover Conservation Commission (NACC.) found this project to qualify as a Small Project Permit and voted unanimously to approve this project as proposed tinder both Category "A" Open,slotted decks, 1,o�ithout roofs, equal to or less than 300 square feet surface area, inclusNe of stairs and ramps, u,hich are to he attached to an existing home, 7-vhere soil disruption during eonstruetion is limited to less than 50 square feet, and~,here no permanent soil alterations are planned under the footprint of'the deck. This small project permit is subject to compliance with the conditions listed below. The project is approved only as it relates to the Conservation Commission and any and all other approvals should be obtained by the applicant/homeowner. August 1, 2024 Page 1 of 2 Small Project Permit Approval NACC#332...75 Surrey Drive The following conditions are hereby mandated: CONDITIONS: 1. Before work may proceed, a preconstruction meeting with Conservation Department staff, the applicant, and the contractor, will be required to inspect the erosion controls and discuss the project on site. 2. A post-construction inspection shall be scheduled with the Conservation Department to verify compliance when work is complete. The applicant, homeowner and their contractors are advised that NO other work on the property is allowed under this permit. The NACC has jurisdiction over all of the wetlands and associated 1 00-Foot buffer zones on site and any work that involves ground disturbance or changing the current conditions in these areas will require permitting with the NACC. This includes, but are not limited to, house additions, pools, patios, decks, sheds, fences, garden beds, landscaping and bridge installation,tree or vegetation cutting/pruning.
