I have done business with Mr. Buckley, Regional Director for the Greenery Corp- oration for many years. As the owner of the Butcher Boy Market in north Andover, I can honestly say that my business dealings with the Greenery have been extreme- ly positive. Since the Greenery has managed the building, they have sponsored community events and shown tremendous community spirit. As a Business Owner and a resident of North Andover I am in full support of this nursing home, especially since it is now managed by the Greenery Corporation. Please call me at my business at 688-1511 if you have any questions. To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter to let you know that the Stevens Hall Nursing Home has had an arrangement with me for quite some time for the rental. of 20 parking spaces. i My agreement with Stevens Hall is good until the end of December, 1992. Although I have been quite pleased with the new management of the facility, I may at some future date, decide to utilize these parking spaces for my own business. I am in full support of Stevens Hall building their parking lot on Osgood Street, as this will alleviate the need for the rental of my spaces. The new management has made every effort for good communications and has respected the use of. the twenty spaces. If you have any questions on our temporary parking arrangement please call me at 682--8029. .-7 Sincerely.,-yours, (/ W111i1am Bucco Proprietor McAloon's Al d-,-J C,A , "elel 16 -71,to -,ec 11be - ' ' Sept. 1, 1992 ' To the Planning Board of North Andover: | As the receptionist at the Greenery of North Andover, I continually get requests from families, visitors, salesmen, and other miscellaneous visitors of where to park. I cannot tell visitors to park at the two family next door or at the VFW, as we only have a few spaces at the VFW. If our parking lot could be built, it would provide parking for the many visitors and families. ' In addition, it is not very safe for the evening and weekend receptionists to have to walk to the liquor store. I normally park at the local liquor store and then cross the VFW parking lot to get to work. In the winter time this can certainly be quite slip— pery and unsafe. Since the Greenery has managed the nursing home, they have made every effort to improve the building and one of those ways is to build a parking lot. I feel that this will. help with employees and visitor parking, as well as ambulances getting in and out of the building, without having to move around cars. I have been in the position of Director of Nurses at the facility for the past four years. I feel as manager at the facility that it is essential that we receive approval for the additional parking spaces. I feel it is necessary for the safety of our employees to have adequate parking adjacent to the facility. Since the Greenery has been managing the facility there have been positive changes. They have been very involved in the facility and endeavored to re- solve issues in the neighborhood. This is evidenced in the proposed plans for parking which would be an asset to the neighborhood as well as the facility. I feel the existence of this facility in our community is a benefit to the citizens of North Andover and I thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Sincerely, i To the Town of North Andover: May I introduce myself. My name is Nell Saracusa. I reside at 1679 Osgood Street, North Andover. I also work at the Greenery Extended Care Center of North Andover. I am very much in support of the new parking facility which the Center is working very hard to achieve. I know that when I have to park in any other area such as the VFW designated parking, I do not feel very comfortable because so many unfortunate situations can arise, either, concerning a possible theft of my vehicle or being attacked in some way while walking alone late in the evening to get my vehicle. Therefore, I feel very strongly that our facility absolutely needs this parking area for the peace of mind and safety of their employees. Thank you for your understanding. Sincerely, September 1, 1992 Town of North Andover Planning Board 124 Main Street North Andover, MA. 01845 To Whom It May Concern: This letter is to state the parking arrangement that we have with Stevens Hall. Nursing Home at the current time. With the prior ownership, the employees of the nursing home parked at random and utilized more spaces than the arrangement called for. Eventually we de- cided not to let the employees park at the VFW. . ,. I was approached a few months ago by the new owners and the new Administrator to work out a new parking arrangement. The facility has done an excellent job insuring that only ten spaces are used for employees. This new contract has not posed any problems whatsoever. However, this is a temporary arrangement and I would certainly like to see the nursing home have their own parking lot, as I am not sure if the VFW can guar- antee a long term permanent contract with the new owners. I fully support their plan for the new parking lot and it will assist the neighborhood in solving the parking problems that were clearly evident in the past. WILLIAM V. DOLAN Chief of Department TeL (508) 686-3812 To: Chris Huntress, Town planner From: Fire Chief Dolan RE: The Greenery -- Parking Lot Date: August 27, 1992 The. fire department supports the proposed construction of the parking lot as shown in the plan submitted by Kaminski & Assoc. This parking area will alleviate the traffic congestion on Park Street, which at times, has impeded fire department access. This change is needed. The discussion at the TRC concerning the upgrade of the fire water main connection from the existing six (6) inch water main into the building to the twelve (12) inch main would improve fire suppression capabilities. If that change is made the fire department recommends that a new fire hydrant, also off that twelve (12) inch main, be installed at the service entrance to the Greenery. A specific location would be given at the time of installation. 1f the existing Ramsden residence is to be moved or razed please notify this office for the necessary permits required. The department does not desire to utilize this residence for any type of training. William V. Dolan Fire Chief cc. Lt.
