This plan shows the proposed locations of the area drains to be installed on the Brown's property. Please note that the locations are approximate. The cleanout at the end of the drain line will be removed and a grate installed. As you know the drain was extended from the original design at the requrest of the Browns and no as-build survey was preformed. Also, the second grate is to placed at the low point off the grass area. The exact location should be identified in the field during the installation. This is an alternate to the approved underground concrete vault detention basin. As discussed with Mr. Jack Sullivan and yourself, the detention basin as approved will require special maintenance and trained personnel to perform this maintenance. The detention basin proposed is a conventional above ground basin requiring a minimal amount of maintenance. I discussed this change with Mile Formichella, District Permits Engineer at Mass Highway. I was told that the change would not affect the permit as long as the flow in the pipe to the State culvert did not increase from the original design. As requested, a copy of this letter and the report is also being fotwarded to Mt. Timothy B. McIntosh, P.E, at Vanasse Hangen Btustlin, Inc. for review.
