This analysis will determine the extent of the additional runoff that the development will produce, and also provide a solution that will ]peep post development runoff rates comparable to existing runoff rates. The hydrologic analysis performed for this site consists of the Soil Conservation Service method of determining runoff values and a computer model that uses a rainfall intensity p . pattern for an S.C.S. rpe II Storm and a unit hyd ograph. t develop runoff rates. Calculations were performed -to compare existing and post development runoff rates from storms of 2 . 10 and too year recurrence frequenciest s shown on FigureExisting Drainage Condataonst the area that contributes runoff to the project site consists o the 10 acre project site and 4 acres of additional property that lies between the project site and Bradford street. This watershed area, drains generally from the top of the hall near Bradford Street to the western and southern borders of the site Existing and post-development runoff rates were calculated to determine the peak rates along both the western i i i and southern borders of the site. The area identified as drainage area I of Figure 2A consists of 8 .6 acres of the proect watershed that drains to the western border of the site. The area identified as drainage area 2 consists of 5 .4 acres of the pro ect watershed that drains to a small stream along the southern border of the site. Drainage area 1 consi-sts- of 3 . 6 acres of the project site that will, drain to the 'western border of the project site. Drainage area 1A consists of 5.2 acres that will drain onto the proposed roadway and into the subsurface drainage system that empties into the proposed i detention area. Drainage area 2 consists of 3. 1 acres that will drain to the stream along the southern border o . the site. Drainage area 2A consists of 2 . 3 acres that will. drain into the proposed detention area by overland flow. The proposed detention area, which will control the runoff from drainage areas 1A and 2 , will have an outlet that will dram into the stream at the southern border of the site. The total peak runoff to the southern border will therefore consist of the peak value resulting from the addition of the detention area outflow to the drainage area 2 runoff. '--`' .. ..-.{* '. --ri .__.- ..., _ sir F 4�4 { I SECTION III EROSION 1 SEDIMENTATION CONTROL r SECTION III EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL r Erosion and sedimentation will be controlled in the following manner: .s soon as the roadway ri ht�of-way is cleared of trees and all of the stumps are removed, a row of staked hale bakes will he placed at the bottom of the slope along the roadway and detention area* This form of erosion control is illustrated in Figure : Sedimentation Control. Detail. :. Crushed stone will be paced at the entrance of the roadway over the full width of -the cleared area for distance of 50 feet to a depth 'of 4 inches to provide erosion control - for the uphill grade into the project. When the drainage structures are installed in the roadway, the frames and grates will be mortared and set to finish grade 'Immediately. on many projects, the manholes and catch basins are left low and uncovered after installation and act as collectors of sediment from runoff. By setting the frames and grates to finish grade they g will be higher than the surrounding roadway until it is paved. This will prevent water and sediment from entering the drainage system . before the r adway is paved. Hay bales will be placed around r the catch basin inlets after the roadway is paved, and will remain in place until the shoulders and side slopes are stabilized with sufficient vegetation to prevent erosion.
