Ostherr Variance
The ZBA has recently granted a variance in the watershed district
to allow for the creation of a substandard lot (l acre) as
compensation for a financial hardship claimed by the applicant.
The hardship was based on an alleged loss of property value from
the construction of the water treatment plant. Discussion
followed regarding increased residential development in the
watershed and the possibility of further degrading the public
water supply. There appears to be little legal grounds for such
a variance.
P.Tariot motioned to ask the Board of Selectmen to authorize the
use of Town Counsel to appeal the Ostherr variance. R.Milliard
seconded. The vote went as follows; 5-1-1, P.Tariot, R.Milliard,
C.Schoene, A.Brewster, R.Mansour were for, G.Reich was against
and A.Manzi abstained. motion passed.
The Commission will visit the following sites on Saturday
