HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-04-30 Old Center Historic District Commission Minutes North Andover Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes April 30, 2025 Present: Ryan Schruender, Michael Lenihan, Roger Lawson, Leslie Frazier, Lisa Roberts, Laurie Belsito The meeting was called to order at 6:02 12.m. in the Select Board Meeting Room at Town Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Public Hearing-Certificate ofAp12rol2riateness for Steven's Center 800 Massachusetts Ave. allowing for a temporaa banner R. Schruender called to open the public hearing, M. Lenihan made a motion to open the public hearing and L. Roberts seconded the motion. There was unanimous consent. M. Lenihan said he would excuse himselffrom voting due to his position on the board of the North Andover Historical Society, the applicant of the certificate of appropriateness before the commission. Joanna Kerr,Executive Director,North Andover Historical Society presented the Historical Society's Revolution 250 Program. She explained that the banner being proposed is to advertise the program and will be put up in the morning and be taken down at close. This banner would be the same style as the one previously approved by the commission for Diane's Cafe, located in the same building. The idea was to create symmetry with the two banners on the front of the building while bringing awareness to the Revolution 250 program. Since the program is an ongoing series, the proposal for the banner is until the end of December 2026, at which it will be removed. There was general discussion and inquiry into the banner replacing the current lawn signs for the same Revolution 250 program outside of the building. J. Kerr mentioned that she already removed some of the lawn signs. L. Frazier made a motion to close the public hearing and M. Lenihan seconded the motion. There was unanimous consent. R. Lawson made a motion to approve the certificate of appropriateness for 800 Mass Ave as presented and M. Lenihan seconded the motion. There was otherwise unanimous consent to approve the certificate of appropriateness, with M. Lenihan abstaining. Aj212roval of Meeting Minutes from 4/2/25 L. Frazier called for a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting on April 2nd, 2025 and R. Lawson seconded the motion. There was unanimous approval. R. Schruender passed out draft letters to businesses located within the Old Center Historic District to serve as a friendly reminder that any signs they have up are within purview of the commission and would need approval. Commission members gave feedback and there was general discussion on the topic. There was an agreement to have R. Schruender send out the revised letter to businesses within the district. The meeting was adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
