Meeting Minutes
October 29, 2025
Present: Ryan Schruender, Michael Lenihan, Roger Lawson, Dan Leary, Lisa Roberts, Laurie
Belsito, James Dowd
The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. in the Select Board Meeting Room at Town Hall.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Public Hearin - Certificate of Appropriateness for 4 Johnson Street. This would allow fog
si,zna,ae.
R. Schruender made a motion to open the public hearing and D. Leary seconded the motion.
There was unanimous consent.
Kianosh Pourian, owner of Baba,Yum Burgers introduced himself and referred to the handouts
provided for details regarding design and location of the signs being proposed, including a sign
on the building and an A-frame sign that would be placed outside. There was inquiry and
agreement that the A-frame sign being proposed would be brought in at night. He specified that
the proposed sign located on the building would be a new sign, not taking place of an existing
one, but consistent with current signs located on the front of the building.
There was discussion on the material of the sign to be located on the building. After approving a
composite sign with a matte finish for the same building, there was emphasis from commission
members on making sure there was consistency with the proposed signs in material and finish
with agreement from the owner.
There was discussion on size regulations, leading to a consensus to limit the building sign
dimensions to a maximum of 24" x 3 6" as was recently approved for the photography shop in the
same building.
There was discussion on the material and size of the a-frame sign to match existing signs used in
the area and reinforcement of it being taken in every night.
Overall, there was expressed support for the proposal as specified and no further questions were
raised.
R. Schruender made a motion to close the public hearing for 4 Johnson Street and L. Roberts
seconded the motion.
There was unanimous consent.
R. Schruender made a motion to approve the certificate of appropriateness for 4 Johnson Street
for Baba Yum Burger to match the signs as presented and with the provision agreed to and D.
Leary seconded the motion.
There was unanimous consent to approve the certificate of appropriateness.
Public Hearing— Certificate ofAppropriateness for 13 Chestnut Street. This would allow for
window and door replacement.
R. Schruender made a motion to open the public hearing for 13 Chestnut St. and D. Leary
seconded the motion.
There was unanimous consent.
The owner or representative for 13 Chestnut St. was not present.
R. Lawson presented that he was contacted about the work being done at 13 Chestnut Street. In
addition to the work being brought before the commission for approval, it was clarified that
approval was not necessary for repairs in kind.
There was discussion of what the certificate proposal was for, and agreement that the owner
would need to appear before the commission to discuss the proposed revisions.
There was agreement for a continuance for the application.
R. Schruender made a motion to offer a continuance for the certificate of appropriateness for 13
Chestnut Street and M. Lenihan seconded the motion.
There was unanimous consent.
Public Hearing— Certificate ofAppropriateness for FIRST FAMILIES plaque.
R. Schruender made a motion that we open the certificate of appropriateness for the first
families plaque. M. Lenihan seconded the motion.
There was unanimous consent.
There was no representative from the Holt Association of America present.
There was continued discussion from the previous meeting regarding the removability of the QR
code as an addition to the plaques, with emphasized concern that it would affect the stone
underneath. It was noted that the email in the handouts refers to threaded rods on the back of the
plaques which would leave a mark.
It was decided that there was need for clarity on the installation, with it being noted that Mary
Beth had provided more detailed information than before. The group agreed that Mary Beth's
presence would be beneficial for addressing outstanding questions.
R. Schruender made a motion to continue the public hearing for Certificate of Appropriateness
for the FIRST FAMILIES plaque and D. Leary seconded.
There was unanimous consent.
Approval of Meeting Minutes—06/18/25 & 10/8/25
R. Schruender made a motion to approve the meeting minutes for 10/8/25 and D. Leary
seconded the motion.
There was unanimous approval.
Approval of the meeting minutes from 6/18/25 were tabled.
There was discussion about resurrecting the idea to make signs for entering the old center
historic district and commission members agreed to address it in a future meeting.
R. Schruender made a motion to adjourn and D. Leary seconded the motion.
