HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-12-03 Old Center Historic District Commission Minutes North Andover Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes December 3, 2025 Present: Roger Lawson, Dan Leary, Lisa Roberts, Laurie Belsito, Ryan Schruender The meeting was called to order at 6.•17 p.m. in the Select Board Meeting Room at Town Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Continued Public Hearing-— Certificate of Appropriateness for FIRST FAMILIES plaque. This would allow for plaque placement. D. Leary made a motion to open the public hearing and R. Schruender seconded the motion. There was unanimous consent. Mary Beth Therrien, President, Holt Association of America Inc. addressed the previous concern with the proposed additions to the existing small stone monument located beside the North Andover Historical Society where Massachusetts Avenue and Academy Road meet. The main concern was how the proposed QR code would be fastened to the stone. She brought a new rendition that included the QR code included on the proposed bronze plaque addition and not as a stand-alone addition. There was discussion pertaining to the background color of the QR code, and if it would be white for readability. Mary Beth was not certain. L. Roberts made a motion to close the public hearing for first families plaque and R. Schruender seconded the motion. There was unanimous consent. R. Schruender made a motion to approve the certificate of appropriateness for the first families plaque as presented and D. Leary seconded the motion. There was unanimous consent to approve the certificate of appropriateness. Discussion Item—Potential street si,iZna,iZe identifvin,sz the boundaries of the Old Center Historic District. R. Lawson brought up the continued discussion of adding signage identifying the boundaries of the Old Center Historic District. He reiterated that he likes the look of similar signage used in Topsfield as well as Boxford. L. Roberts mentioned that she knows the person who makes the Boxford signs, so she could get in touch if the commission decided to go in that direction. There was general discussion about location of signs and matching them to entrances into the district. There was also a mention of the possibility of having a larger sign similar to the one located at Machine Shop Village at one of the entrances to the district, mainly Mass. Ave. and Osgood St. There was agreement to have R. Lawson send out the map of the district to commission members, and homework for commission members to survey the potential locations of the signage. Approval of the meeting minutes e from 10129125 The meeting minutes included in the packet did not match the date of 10/29/2025 so no minutes were approved. R. Schruender made a motion to adjourn and A Leary seconded the motion. There was unanimous consent. The meeting was adjourned at 6:35 .m.
