Response to Fire Department Review Comments
Dear Lt. Michael Beirne and Ms. Jean Enright,
This letter has been prepared in specific response to the fire department comments received to date
from the initial filing and the subsequent submission of the above referenced project with the
Planning Board.
The initial response letter was a compilation of all of the department and consultant review comments
received. This letter addresses just the fire department comments. I apologize that the initial response
mistakenly omitted some comments related to items within the building.
Accompanying these comments is a revised swept path analysis diagram (Drawing Al rev 8-8-19)
showing the North Andover fire truck with the specification provided by the town. The drawing
indicates that the truck can either enter past the main lot or enter into the main lot and leave without
the wheels touching the curbs or the parked cars. There are areas where the bumper overhang crosses
over the 6-inch curb; however the wheels do not come in contact with the curbing. The wheel path is
shown on the diagram within the colored path staying within the pavement. There are no poles or
trees to obstruct this should the bumper extend over the curb. In addition, I added a 50 foot and 100
foot radius from the building for your reference.
The following are the numbered comments and the responses in bold type:
1. Project must meet requirements of MGL148,527CMR,NFPA 1 and NFPA 101.

2. Project-specific site safety plan be implemented upon commencement of construction
activities in accordance with 527CMR Ch.16 and NFPA241

3. Bi-directional amplifier/emergency responder cormnunications system installed in accordance

4. Fire protection systems be installed in accordance with 780 CMR Ch9, MGL 148 26G and
NFPA 13.

5. Radio master box connected to North Andover Public Safety [NAPS] dispatch center via the
North Andover FD radio box system be installed and connected to fire protection systems.
The NAPS dispatch center will only monitor alarms. Any supervisory and/or trouble alarms
will need to be monitored by an approved monitoring company in addition to the radio box
connection in accordance with 527CMR and NFPA72.

6. A secured key access box will need to be installed in accordance with North Andover By-Law
69-8.1 7.

7. An elevator which is large enough to accommodate an EMSstretcher be installed in
accordance with 780CMR. 8.A swept path analysis be performed of the site and parking areas
to ensure FD apparatus has adequate access to the building in accordance with 527CMR Chl8
