Message Jean,
To help make sure I was clear, I am sending a quick note to
quickly list my comments and suggestions relative to the high
school athletic field development which I made on Feb 25.
Thanks!
1 1 was curious if there could be shared the true need for
adding these lights. Some analysis that shows hover the dark
hours of the day are hours we Sneed fields to satisfy the
minimum requirements for our town needs. It strikes me that
we are adding so much capacity to the lower fields that these
lights are likely not a true need.
2 Could the planners look at scenarios around the lights and
hoer these different scenarios would impact the light spillage?
For instance, scenarios such as more light poles but less
intensity, different height poles, different locations in the
endones instead of on the sides)etc.
3 When will the usage plan for all of these fields be made
available' I are most interested in the field at the track. l think
we are looking for the time of day usage and days of the year
usage. Also, who will have access to the field at the track
(Merrimack, private clubs, marching band, etc).
4 Could we see some examples of fields with the lights s ec'd
for our track at the heights being considered and either see
images or know where we can go visit to learn more about
wham those lights look like.
5)Are there other mitigations that can be put in place to reduce
spillage? I am thinking there may be treatments like guards on
the lights, different focal lenses, trees and shrubs that can be
planted to protect the houses from the light.
6)The walkway path could be considered to be lit as that path
is very dark for students and community members using that as

a way to move from the hi hschool then past the firestatlon.
7)Could we see the analysis of how the light intensity changes
every 20-80 ft up to the 150ft lire as well as beyond that line?
8) l know no one asked it but could we get more detail on the
usage of the piclleal courts? I know some communities have
had trouble with the noise that comes from pickleball courts.
Nappy to further clarify if necessary.
Thanks,
-Jason
