Good morning-Throughout the Greater Boston area, I represent the International Masonry Institute (IMI). We are a
nonprofit organization that advocates for the masonry and tile industries, as well as the proper installation of such.
have 2 main concerns with the current building proposal and renderings presented, at the College:
1. For the most part, these (2)4-story new buildings would block the existing church building, and also some of the other
existing masonry buildings that are a key part of the campus. There is only 1 narrow angle from a corner on the street
where one could still see the church building.
2. More importantly, the materiality of these 2 pending buildings does not complement the existing architecture of the
campus. Roughly 90% of the campus buildings are brick, and that is a key part of the vibe and theme of the College. The
2 proposed buildings look like they may have clapboards and some metal paneling-they would seem to stick out amongst
the rest of the campus. These building designs may belong elsewhere in the Town- but not on the MC campus.
would advocate for building architecture that works better with the existing college environment, and that would certainly
include more brick and masonry.
