Dear Mr. Lis and Ms. Craig-Comin,
I've been attending most ZBA meetings pertaining to the 0 Prescott proposed apartment complex, but had to miss the last
two sessions.
I tried catching up by checking the minutes, but it looks like the record of meeting minutes posted to the ZBA site are
somewhat behind.
At prior meetings, I shared my concerns over the proposal, particularly related to the dramatic traffic impact it will have on
our neighborhood which already suffers from a rapid increase in our population density for this area due to the Avalon
complexes. I've listened to the discussions and worry that the consultants tasked with weighing in on this issue are not
looking at the significance of the impact sufficiently.As I write this around 4:40 pm, I'm sitting in my backyard and can hear
a steady stream of vehicles speeding down High Street one after the next. If anyone thinks that the hundreds upon
hundreds of rental units that have already been built here are not having an impact on residents, I invite them to hang out
in my yard. But of course, it's not just residents of High, Elm, and Prescott Streets that are affected. Some of you already
know about the traffic back-ups on Sutton Street and the intersections of Main and Sutton and High and Sutton. That
affects everyone, and it's only going to get worse.
I was able to read an assessment by the town related to the development's potential impact on our water and sewer
system, but the information is really over my head. What I do understand is that we are at level 3 drought status, and that
this is not new. Rather, it is, unfortunately,turning into more of a consistent trend. We saw how low Lake Cochichewick
got last summer, and we've seen the predictions for increased risk of worsening drought here.At what point do you look at
the very real negative impact a development of this size would pose to our water supply?Again, this isn't a High and
Prescott Street problem. This is a town problem.
I could go on, but I won't. I've sat through enough ZBA meetings to see that you are all trying to be thorough in your
assessment of the impact this development would have to our traffic, and resources, etc. and I'm grateful for that. There
are many people in this area who are concerned and opposed to the proposed development. They just haven't attended
meetings, because they're busy with kids,jobs, life. Please do everything you can to dramatically reduce or, even better,
eliminate this development. There's just too much at stake here.
