Attached is information for the ZBA in advance of the 4/8/2026 hearing. I plan on referring to it as part of my
5 minute public comments
The attached shows the Prescott St sidewalk/pedestrian access issues. I previously sent the board photos
of both the sidewalk and the street. This concentrates only on the sidewalk. I used the Mass Mapper tool on
the Commonwealth's website to show aerial photos and distances, and took photos of several areas to
illustrate the issues.
Part of my opposition to the current development proposal is it will compound an already bad situation for
pedestrians on Prescott St. I believe the town should require the existing pedestrian access issues be fixed
before any new additions to the traffic situation. We should not hope for funding from the state and a fix after
the fact. The developer might even be able to share in the cost of funding upgrades as part of a community
benefits agreement.
I am also planning on raising concerns about the planned garage demolition, including the number of truck
loads, requiring pre-demolition testing of the c.late 1970s/1980 concrete for asbestos, and requiring testing
of surrounding soil for any contamination issues before material is moved through our neighborhood.
I appreciate the board taking this information into consideration in their review of Zero Prescott Street.
