Good evening Mr. Chair,
We had planned to be at the meeting tonight but had a family emergency.
In regards to the traffic study, the date that the testing occurred was during New Hampshire
school vacation week. We bring this up as we see a lot of New Hampshire license plates in the
parking lot. The numbers in the study may not be accurate.
We are also concerned that massdot data used in this study went up to 2019. This date is before
Avalon and 505 Sutton were built.
397 additional cars is too many. This week speed limit monitor and a sign message about
watching speeds and pedestrians appeared. When you look at the traffic study reports for future
build our LOS goes from a B to a C.
We are concerned for pedestrian safety. As it is, we see parents and grandparents using strollers
on Prescott and they have no sidewalk that extends all the way to Chickering road. We have seen
pedestrians moving quickly between driveways to avoid traffic.
On High Street, there is only 1 sidewalk that extends to Sutton street. In the past year, a
pedestrian lost their life on High Street.
East Mill Housing in their proposal states McEvoy and the High School as parks under a mile. If
you are a pedestrian trying to get to these, at some point you will be walking in the road.
We can speak from first hand experience that cars exiting either East or West Mill do not stop for
pedestrians.
If you drive down High Street or Prescott Street currently, you will see a snow mound on West
Mill that blocks that sightline. RCG does not plow or clear the sidewalk up to our property. We take
it upon ourselves for the past 12 years to clear the sidewalk at least to the fire hydrant and clear
area around fire hydrant, as that is a matter of public safety.
With this number of additional cars, traversing High Street will be more difficult as High Street is
down to one lane when delivery trucks block one side of the road. We do not want cars parking
along Prescott Street, narrowing the road.
Lastly, Prescott Street has taken a beating from the number of heavy trucks and increase in cars.
There are so many potholes. We have seen more cars using Prescott, Moody, Chadwick and
Surrey drive to avoid traffic on Sutton street.
We would be in favor for a significant decrease in the number of units which will mean less cars.
