The meeting was ~called to order by the Chairman at 8:10 P.M.
This meeting was a PUBLIC HEARING:
Members present: John F. Alter, Chairman, Gregory Mooradkanian,-
Secretary., Irving C. Howes, Henry E. Lurid, James T. Poor and
alternate members James Regan and Sam BiMauro.
Application was received from Mrs. VanBunnen requesting t'~&
variance from the Zoning By-Laws of the Town of North Andover, so
as to permit the erection of a garage and reapri shop, on property
owned by her and to be operated by Mr. William F. Goodhue, This
property is located at the corner of Johnson Street and Salem Turnpike
and the proposed shop will be set facmng Salem Turnpike. The
building is to be of wood *frame or wood and stucco.
The advertised notice which appeared in the Evening Trib~ne on
December 3, 1949 was read by the Secretary.
Mr. Good~ue and Mrs. Van Bunne6 were present and presented the case
to the Board. Mr. Goodhue explained that he did not have any plans.
His architect had not been able to get these ready for this meeting.
Mr. Alden Farnum, one of the abutters was present not as an objector,
but only to get information as to just what type of construction
the applicant proposed to erect. This was explained to him. There
was no objection. No other persons appeared either for or against
this application.
Motion was made by James P~gan that this application be held in
abeyance until Mr Ge. odhue ~ould present complete plans to the
Board showing just where this shop was to be located and what
type of building he intended to put up. This was not seconded.
Motion was then made by Mr. Mooradkanian and seconded by Mr.
that this matter be taken under advisement until the plans would
'be ready and that Mr. Goodhue should present these plans to the
Board at the next meeting to be held January 9, 1950. This was
unanimously VOTED.
The matter of the 1950 appropriation was discussed and motion was
made and seconded and it was unanimously VOTED that the same amount
of $200.00 be submitted to the Advisory Board.
Aletter was received from Mrs. Alice M., Scoralick, stating that She
had applied with the State for a license to operate a Nursing Nome
on the premises at 140 Prescott Street, North~ndover, and wished
to have the Board specify what restriction if any were involved in
this matter. This letter had previously been sent to the Planning
Board but was referred to the Board of Appeals. A letter was sent
to Nrs. Scoralick explaining that this Board had granted her a permit
as a non-conf~rming use and ~hat this permit should be renewed each year.
The original permit had been granted on JanUary 24, 1947, but ~ application
had beenreceivedby this Board ef renewal. Mrs. Scoralickwas informed
as to what nights the Board of Appeals would meet,
Metion was made and seconded and it was VOT~ to adjourn the meeting.
