The meeting was called to order by the Cha~-~,~n at 7:30 P.M. in the Town
Building.
Members present: Richard G. Whipple~ Chairman, Nicholas Nicetta, Pete=
Ritchte and Associate members Donald F. Smith, Benedict Perrone and James
Je Regane
Due to the absence of two regular members~ the Chairman designated associate
member James J. Regan to replace Henry E. Dund and Benedict Perrone to replace
Andrew E. Alvino. Associate member Smith stayed for the meeting but did not
take part in the voting.

'A c(,,,,,,..,nicationwas received from the Board of Selectmen requesting that they
be advised as to the action taken by the Board relative to Mr. Edmnnd F. Leland
who is requesting a firearms license from the~ Mr. Leland had ~een before this
bosrd informally some weeks before and was advised to make an application for
a variance in order to obtain a non-conforming use permit to allow ~ to sell~
buy and repair antique f~rearms. Mr. Leland to date had not made a formal
application to the Board ~nd therefore no action could be t~ken. The Board of
Selectmen were so advised and a copy of the letter sent to them is in the file.
The Chairman of the Bosrd designated Mr. Nicetta to act as Secretary of the
Board in the absence of Mr. Alvino and Mr. Nicetta read the m~utes of the
previous meeting.
'A motion was made by Mr. Berrone~ seconded by Mr. Regan and it was unanimously
voted that the minutes be accepted as read.
A letter was received in rep~y to our letter to the Board of Health relative
to the application o2 Mrs. Ga~_laher requesting the approval of the Board for
a division of land and property on Salem Street~ Johnson Street and Stevens
Street. No Action to date had been taken on this application. A motion was
Made by Mr. Nicetta~ seconded by Mr. Ritchie and it was unanimously voted to
postpone any further action on this matter until the next regular meeting~ this
meeti~ to be held on ?~eb~-~ 8~ 1954.
The rules and regulations relative to the Board of appeals concerning applications,
notices to rebutters and advertising also relative to the ti~ element regarding
decisions~ were discussed by the Board. These rules and regulations were drawn
up at the .time the Board was originally formed in 1943.
A motion was made by ~r. Ritchie, seconded by Mr. Nicetta and it was unanimously
voted to amend the rules and regulations as follows:
Rule 2--to be amended to read as follows~. The following drawings shall be filed
with the application~ One (1) original drawing on tracing cloth draw~ with
black waterproof ink and five (5) prints on paper.
Rule 5-to be amended to read: The Board ~f Appeals sha~_l notify the petitioner
of its decision in w riting.
Motion Was made by Mr. Nicetta~ seconded by Mr. Perrone ~nd it was unanimously
voted to sdjourn the meeting at 9:00 P.M. The next regular meeting to b& held
on Monday evening~ February $, 1954.
