Mention was made and sec0~nded and it was voted to adjourn the meeting at

The meeting was called to order by the ~hairman in the Town Buildiug at
7~30 P.Mo This was a Public Hearing~ Advertised in the Evening Tribune
on May 1, 1954.
Members present~ Richard G. ~hipple, Chairman, Andrew E. Alvino, S~eretery~'
Nicholas F. Nieettaj Petter Ritohie amd Associate-~ember Benedict Perrone.
In the a~sence of ~enry . Lundj the ~hairm~n designated Associate Member
Perrone to vote in his place.
Au applicat~ion was reeeived from Hrs. Caroline Rogers~' Mrs. Horace Stevens
and Mrs. Turner Bridget requesting the approval of the Board under ~ticle
II~ Section 1, paragraph (f) of the Zoning B~-Laws so as to maintain and
operate a ah~p aa a philanthropic project for the sale of hand made articles.
This to be know~ as the Nay Scales Exchange, located at the intersection of
Andover and Osgood Streets.
The applicants were present and explained to the Board that they wished to
have this shop in order to give an epportunity for persons in this vicinity
to ~_~ve a market for their hand made articles. This would be a non-profit
organization and an~ profits which were made after expenses would go for
charity. Mrs. Stevens explained that the article put up for sale would
first be judged by a board and that 25% of the sale price would be rota~ed by
the Exchange to be used for the upkeep of the shop. If ar~ profits were left
after these expenses were paid this would be used for charitye She also
stated that they would endeavor ~e enomlra~e ~dtc,~a. ft4 a3~ that tht~ would
be a good eportunity for older persons and shut ina who can do this type of work
to bare an outlet for their worke Mrs. Rogers stated that it was well understood
that they were not to change the h~tilding outside in an~ wa~ as it was of great
historical value and the on]~v tb~ they would be permitted to do would be to
paint and clean up. There were no objectors ~o this application.
A motion was made by Mr. Ritchie~ seconded by Mr. Nicetta and it was unanimousl~
voted to take this ~atter under advisement,.
After carefully considering the above application, a motion was made by,r. Nicetta,
seconded by Mr. Ritchie and it was unanimous~v voted to grant this permit.
