Merabers present and voting were: D'.~n~el T. O~Lear~f, Chairman, K~nneth Terroux, Secretary, Robert Burke, Henry Lund and .ass ciate Member William Morton. F.~. Morton sat in place of Donald F. Smith,' regular member who was absent. Mr. O'Leary asked if Mrs. Griffin, whose hearing was scheduled first, would m~nd if t~elBoard had a short discussion w~th Atty. John Willis, Counsel for Mr. Newell whose petition had previously been denied. Mrs. Griffin stated she didn't mind at all. The Board explained the reason the petition had been denied to Mr. Willis. The meetin~ was called to order at 8:05 PM. 1st hearing, atty. ~.rnold Salisbury aopeared for Mra J. Elaine Griff~n who sought a specfal permit for the subdivision of land located at .q!al Ch~ckerin~ Road. ~k's. Griffin ~ould l~.ke to have h~r land split ~nto two lots, one h~ving 30,716 square feet and the other 30,016 square feet. He explained the land is surrounded by PubLic Ways and, therefore, no additional land can be obtained. No oppos~tf, on apogee?ed 0efore the [Board. kr. O'L~ary asked why the land couldn't be rezoned and atty. Salisbury explaine.~'i a Town i~ieeting canrot properly amend a By Law except for certain laid out in C~apter I..8. The only reamor~a By Law can be changed are for the purpose of promoting health and safety of its ~rda~b~tants. kr. Terroux asked how the land was zoned in the area and Atty. Salisbury explained Ck~cker~n~ Road was used as a divider. l'~r. Lund __eyed to take the matter under advisement. Mr. Burke seconded the ~otion. Unanimous vote. 2nd hearing. Massgan ~ealty requested a special permit under Section !±, Paragraph !t.!i!~ to erect anauto and service station at the corner of Clark Street and Os~ood Street. ~tty. Daniels appeared for the peM tioner. He explained ~]a~sgan now has a wharehouse in the area and ~ould' l~ke a service ~tat~on on the corner lot which would be able to have two entrances. ~lbert Steinberg, 1159 0sgood Street appeared in opposition. Mr. Stein- berg stated cars and trucks are parked all over the street. I,[r. Daniels explained the reason for the park_~ng on the street. He said many of the cars belonged to the workers who are completing the job at the wh~rehouse amd t~t a storage per~:~it had been obtained at 7:30 P?[, Dece~ber ~, 19j5~ from the Board of Selectmen to take care of the trucks. Norman and ~s. Hughes, 1003 Osgood Street, also ap~eared in opposition. They said they wo~ld have trouble with their crops because of g~s seepage. ~tty. Daniels stated the safety fac~rs would come up for the prooer Board but he understood this was only for site plan approval. Er. Lund explained the B~rd is interested in the safety factors al~o and th~s is an ~mportant point the ~oard considers. mr. U~rke mo,,ed to take the matter under advisement. Mr. seconded the motion. Unau~mous vote. 3rd hear~n~. ~Q~chael Corradino, 273 Gree~ Street petitioned for a special permit for the erecti~n of a gasoline station at 1026 OsEood ~treet~ Mr. Carrad~no asked for h~s petition to be tabled until further materials are obtained or until the next ~et~ng in February. ~r. Terroux moved ti~,~s petition bs postponed until February 9. Mir. ~rke seconded the i~ztion. Unanimous vote. T;~ meetln~ adjourned at 9.~0 P~'i.
