Dear Mr. Long :
The Board of Appeals held a public hearing on Tuesday evening ,
September 15 , 1981 upon the application of Richard F. and Susan C .
Jones . The hearing was advertised in the North Andover Citizen on
August 27 and September 3 , 1981 and all abutters were notified by
regular mail . The followinq members were present and voting :
Frank Serio , Jr. , Chairman ; Alfred E . Frizelle , Esq . , Vice Chairman;
Richard J . Trepanier, Esq . , Clerk ; William J . Sullivan ; and Augustine
Nickerson .
The petitioner seeks a variance from the provisions of Section 7 ,
Paragraph 7 . 3 and Table 2 of the Zoning By Law to allow the co-n-
tinued use of a single family dwelling with less than the required
rear set back on the premises located at 27 Grosvenor Avenue .
The petioner testified that the dwelling was constructed in 1957 ,
and when a recent plot plan was required by the bank to secure a
mortgage , it was discovered that the building did not have the
proper set backs .
Upon a motion made by Mr. Frizelle and seconded by Mr . Trepanier ,
the Board voted unanimously to grant the variance as requested .
The Board finds that each of the provisions set forth in Section 10 . 4
of the Zoning By Law have been satisfied . In particular , the Board
finds that due to the location of the structure on the premises for
over 20 years , with a small deviation from the existing requirements ,
constitutes a hardship within the definition of the zoning By Law .

Dear Mr. Long:
A public hearing was held by the Board of Appeals on November 13, 1978 upon applica-
tion of Richard F. Jones and Blaine Scribner who requested a variation of Sec. 6.3
and Table 2 of the Zoning By-Law so as to permit a variance from the front setback
requirement as shown on a plan of land dated Oct. 27, 1978 and located on Wood Ave.
The following members were present and voting: Frank Serio, Jr., Chairman; Alfred
E. Frizelle, Vice-Chairman; James D. Noble, Jr.; John J. Gaffny, III; and Assoc.
Member Richard J. Trepanier.
The hearing was advertised in the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 1978
and all abutters were duly notified by regular mail.
According to testimony given at the hearing, the locus is on a dead end street and
the sewer is very shallow at the end. The Board found a particular hardship because
the variance requested is due to an error detected when the buyer had the land
surveyed for bank purposes. Further, it was determined that requirements of Sec. 9.5
of the By-Law had been met.
Upon motion of Mr. Gaffny and second by Mr. Trepanier the Board voted unanimously to
GRANT the variance as requested.
