The retirement system~ is established under the provisions of Sections 26 to 31I and the employees shall become members of the. retirement system of the County of Essex. It was decided to contact County Treas. Thurston and see what the Board is to dc. A letter with reference to a change in the law effective January 1, 1943 pertaining to Unemploymant Compensation was received from ~he Division of Employment Security. Employers of one or more persons are now subject to the provisions of the Law.~Heretofore only. em- ployers who. employed four or more persons were subject to theLaw. Meeting adjourned. April 12, 1943 - The r'egalar weekly meeting was held this date with all members present. The weekly bills, 01d Age Assistance and Aid to Dependent Children Pay Rolls were approved for~ payment Mr. Alexander M. White came in to the meeting and.requested:.the~ Board to contact the Boston andfMaine Railroad*in an effort,.tO have the crossing at North Main Street repaired. He said .he broke a spring on his car at thmt crossing, to-day. ~ Mr. Foster' agreed to write and ask to have-the street repaired, and:to recommend the. payment of the spring. The application for the purchase of 'the new fire engine was~ returned with request that it be made out cn-a new form giving more detailed information. It was- decided at' first .to' have Fire Chief Hargreayes come in and-help fill out the form but it was later decided~ ~hat. Mr. Duffy and Mr. Hargreaves would ~make a trip to Boston about the Fire Engine and having the forms properly filled out.
