The transfers 'voted by the Board July 12 and July 26 were
returned this day approved by the Advisory Board.
The Transfers were as follows~
$2000. from the Reserve Fund~to take care of the retil;ement
pension and $300. from the Reserve Fund to the Town Building appropria-
tion for alterations and improvements in the Towm.Building.
The bi-monthly meeting of the.Board was held ~his date with
all members present. The weekly bills were approved for payment.
Action on the petition of the New England Telephone & Telegraph'Company
for the transfer of four Joint poles on Pleasant Street to the L~wrence
Gas & Electric Company was taken. Josepb Finneran made'a m~ti6~ to
g?nt. permiasion which was seconded byArthur Thomson, and it was unen-
~mously voted toffgrant the petition.
A hearing was held onthe application of Alexand~'White
for a club liquor for the Cochaciwick Clu~, 80 Saunders Street, of:which .
he is Presidan~. ~ ·
Mr. White'said'he planned to renovate the Club:and put it
in good order and maintain an orderly Club, Theodore_Merrill/'93 Main
Street, spoke in favor of a license and said that~he had no. obJ.ections,

Club is terrible..Mrs. 'Alexina Costello, Cleveland Street, said she had
been annoyed many times by the noise and men falling in her yar~; and
both women strenuously opposed'granting~ of this license.
Mr. Thomson stated hehad~no recollectionof any. complaints
made previously.- Mr. Foster made a motion that. the-ma~ter he taken under ·
consideration and on this motion, seconded hyMr..~inneran, the,~ote was
unanimous.
Mr.'Thomson had'a'certified copy of Charter and By-Laws for
our records. Re said we should have an attested,copy of the minutes of the
meeting at which time Mr. White was elected President." MrsjEmery, iBigh
Street, called to say she owned two houses on Cleveland Street a~ objected
strenuously ~o the Club. Mr. Thomson said Mr.'White'should pr6duce plans
as to the remodelling'of the place and a copy of a letter of the'minutes of '
the last meeting making him President. It was.decided to wait until the -
above information was receivedfrom Mr. White'before making an[~decision.
· -. Complaint was received fromM rs. MichaelBurson;.'100 Main
Street, regarding noise and gambling which goes on attheLune~ 'Room of
which Theodore Merrill is the Proprietor. This is the first written com-
plaint we have had. Mr. Thomson set it down for a ~earing to be'held on
September 13, 1943 at 7:30 P;M. in the Selectmen's 'Office to'determine if
this licenseshould be continued. Mr. Thomson said we would n~itify
