Mbs. Samuel Bardsley asked for permission to use Stevens Hall ou November
19, as well as November 20. Mr. Thomson approved by motion which was
seconded by Mr. Finneran and vo~e was unanimous. Mr. Hayes also approved
· this date.
Mr. Thomson read a letter on the care' of children of mothers who are
employed in essential War Work. No action was taken as it was not
~onsidered essential but will be kept in mind by the Department of
Public,Welfare.
The following specialconstables were appointed as requested by Davis
'andFurberCo: Malcolm Hamilton, 105 Plessant St. andGeorge'Clsrke
of Parker Street. James Smith and Harry Binns were also mentioned
but they have already been appointed.

-~Regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was'held at 7.00 P.M.
with all members present.
Weekly'bills and payrolls were approved.
· Mr. Harry Dowe came before' the Board ~o explain the re-writing of s
new insurance policy. He said that ·if policy didnot cover aid tanks,
'~'coil'hot water heater and tanks that the State may step in. The re-
; ".' '~ writing of~ this policy was unanimously approved by the Board;
' . '~;An' in~itation from the North Andover Parents-Teachers Association was
.~ ~ received, to-gether with a program for the year. Mr.~ Thomson made a
' ~'tion to accept the invitation and the dates will be kept in 'mind and
.' an endeavor made' to attend~or send a representative.
· · , 'Mr. Turgeon came in for a permit to store gasoline at ."Moseley's
~ ... , .· Ststion" on Hillside Road:.'and State Highway. He intends to take over
. ~..~..~ ~the station if he can ge~ sufficient coupons. He was advised~to see
the Rationing Board and come in to' this Board lster on.
~ Mr. Buchan discussed the chang~ng~?'the name of Park Street to Virginia

A'.citation of the estate o~ Ma~yMcDonough was received from RaymOnd ·
Sullivan. · ~The will states that in the e~ent of the death, of her daughter'
.... . Marble McDonough, before she r~aches the age of 25, leaving no issue, then
· ' ;~'~ :;~ "~one'half of ~the said estate then remaining is bequeathed to the Town
of North Andover for the benefit of the poor of said town.
Requests were received from seveffal managers of Taverns and Clubs for
. permission to remain open· one extra hour on Monday evening before the
holiday, October 12. Mr. Foster made a motion, seconded· by Mr. Finneran
~ :that all liquor licensees· be given an extra hour on October 11; this
~:does not apply to Package Stores.
Mr..Finneran received reques%s from ~everal residents on Stevens Street,
~ohave a light installed.·· Two former requests were recentlyrefused by
the Lawrence Gas & Electric Co, and no'further request will be made at
this t~me. However, if conditions change, action willbe taken.
