Hearing was held am 7.30 P.M. on removal of two large trees on Parley
Road. Mr. Thomson made a motion that permission be granted to remove
these mrees, which was seconded by Mr. Finneren and vote was unanimous.
The Tribune Publishing asked the Board if anything could be done about
collecting $2.25 for an ad pertaining ~o the zoning law, the bill hav~ng
been sent so Mrs. Richardson who refuses ~o pay it. Mr. Thomson felt
that the Tribune should collect from Mrs. Richardson and was so ~nformed.
A report of an automobile accident - a private car and one of our fire
trucks was discussed and referred to C. J. Mahoney for his attention
and report.
'It was vo~ed on the motion made by Mr. Thomson that the stop sign at
Marblehead and Middlesex St. have the ~roper amendment form. This was
seconded by Mr. Finneran and voted unanimously.
Mr. Thomson suggested that Mr. carry be asked to repair this stop sign
and also erect a szreet ~igh:'cn]HaroldcStreet.
It was suggested that Mr. Finneran contact the Lawrence Gas and Electric
Company ~o remove ~the shades on every second light throughout the ~town.
Motion was made by Mr. Thomson and seconded by Mr. F6ster.
A s~a~e aid report was approved for 820.00 for Ruth Car*y and Sophia

The regular weekly mmeting of the Board of Selectmenms heldat 7.30 P~M.
with all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
A hearing was held at 7.30 P.M. on She petition of Lawrence Gas & Electric
Company for permission ~o locate poles, wires and fixtures on southerly
side of Saltonstall Road between RailroadAve and Cabot Road- 2 poles~ ~
(These are existing locations- no new poles ~o be installed). Motion made
by Mr~ Thomson to grant permission, seconded by Mr. Finneran and voted
unanimously.
Mr. Thomson made a motion to accept petition of Lawrence~Gas & Electric Co.
for Joint locations and existing poles on southerly side of Turnpike~Sb.'
easterly from Hillside- 8npoles. Mr..Thomson made a motion to accept this
petition, seconded by Mr. Finneran and voted umanimously.

Usual notice for snow removal received from the DePartment of Public Works
and referred to Mr. Catty. '
An invitation from the American Legion remeived amd accepted unanimously.
Board will mee~ at theNorth Andover Club Mouse and participate in.the
Armistice Day exercises.
Mr. Finneran told the Board that he had discussed the possibility of having
the shades removed from the street lights but Mr. Patterson of the Gas Company
said he was waiting for a Proclamation from Governor Saltonstal~._ Nothing
can be done at the present time.
A report was received from the ~assachusetts Safety Counci!, HighwaySafet~
Division showing startling increase in pedestrian fatality figures.
A letter from Governor Salstonstsll regarding Civilian Defense Organizations
and asking that these organizations be maintained and continued, so as mo be
prepared and ready for immediate action. Bulletins received from the office
cf the Commanding General and from Lt. General George Grunert.
Bulletin on cost of living received from the Dept. of Labor and Industries.
A traffic amendment was signed and the vote was as follows: VOTED: That the
Traffic Rules and Orders of the' Tow~ of North Andovar adopted by the Board of
of Selectmen under date of May 9, 1938 be an~ are hereby amended by adding at
the end of Article VII, Section of the Gen. Laws, the following:
