HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-11-13Monday, November 13, 1961 Regular Meeting The Board of Appeals held their regular meeting on Monday evening, November la, 196i at 7:50 P.M. at the Town Building. Members present and voting were: Daniel T. O'Leary, Chairman; Robert J. Burke, HenryE. Lurid and ~ssociate Members, William Morton ama Alfred Boeglin. The associate members were designated to sit in the place of the regular members Harold Morley and Howard Gilman. There were approximately i4 people present ~or the three hearings to be held. HEARING: Domenic & Rose Cardegna This hearing was in the appeal of Domenic & Rose Cardegna, requesting a variation of Sec. 6, Para. 6.31 of the Zoning By$Law ao as to p~rmit the erection of a building for residential use only on the premises, located at 1EZ-IE4 Union Street. Chai~Gan O~Leary read the notice of the hearing. Atty. Charles Trombly represented the petitioners. He explained the reason~for the variation and showed the plans to those present. The state is t~king part of their land and home for Route 495, and will either have to move present home farther back on lot or rebuild. They have the necessary 12,500 ft. lot, but because of the shape of the lot will have only i6.1i ft. frontage. There were approx, five people that spoke in favor. Mr. Michael Perruccio, ll6 Union St., next door neighbor, was opposed, but mainly for personal reasons. Mr. Burke made a motion to take the matter under advisement. Lund seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. HEARING: Davis & Frances M. McKee This hearing was in the appeal of Davis & Frances McKee, requesting a variation of Sec. 7, Para. 7.E~ of the Zoning By-Law ao as to permit the erection of a gaDage for off street parking on the premises. located at ll3 Moody Street. Chariman O'Leary read the notice of the hearing. Mr. & Mrs. McKee both explained their nee~ oI' a garage an~ the desire to proceed with building it before the bad weather starts. Mr. Sciarrino looked at the plans and approved of the placing of the garage. Mrs. Grande was also in ~favor. Mr. Burke made a motion to take the matter under advisement. Mr. Lund seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. November 13, 1961 - Cont. HEARING: Filippa Longo This hearing was in the appeal of Filippa Longo, requesting a variation of Sec. 6, Para. 6.62, 6.31, 6.32 of the Zoning By-Law so as to permit the sub-division of existing small lots into two lots on the premises, located at the west side of Morris Street, 100 feet ~'rom the corner of Second Street. Chairman 0'Leafy read the notice of the hearing. Atty. B~ainerd Smith represente~ the petitioner. Mrs. Longo and son were present, also ~r. Scire. There was no opposition. Atty. Smith explaineC the subdivision of the lots, both lots have over 100 ft. frontage. One lot is 7,000 ft. and one lot mis The Board referred to the Assessor's maps and discussed a better arrangement of the lots with the petitione rs,~since their own property surrounds the proposed lots. The only way the Board could approve a sub-division was to add 3,000 ft. to the 7,000 ft. lot, thereby making two, 10,000 ft. lots. The petitioners agreed anc will sen~ in new plans. Mr. Burke made a motion to take the matter under advisement. Mr. Lund seconded the mo~ion and the vote was unanimous. The Board then discussed the three hearings and made the following decisions: 1. Domenic & Rose Cardegna: Mr. Morton made a motion to approve the petition. the motion, and the vote was unanimous. Mr. Luna seconded 2. Davis & Frances McKee: Mr. Boegltn made a motion to approve the petition. the motion and the vote was unanimous. Mr. Morton seconded 3. Filippa Longo: Mr. Burke made a motion to approve the petition subject to showing 10,O00 ft. on each lot. Mr. Morton seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
