Mr. Kingsley, who is now a call firefighter, will resign the positin on the Board of Fire Engineers
when he is appointed to the reserve list. An appointment will be made at the next meeting on
October 1, 1984.
Lea.qu~ of Women Voters
Marry Larson appeared before the Board to discuss the step~ to be taken tO. implement a charter
reform. After discussion, the Board unanimously VOTED to support the League of Women
Voters' plan for charter reform. In addition, Marry Larson added~that the League will be
obtaininq signatures durin~l the November election outside the polls.
Ingalls St. - Burnt out buildinc~
The Board discussed Town Co~sel's response to a request for clarification relative to the
property on Ingalls St. Mr. Joyce advises the Selectmen that removal of burnt out buildings
is Selectmen responsibility. The Board unanimously VOTED to notify the owners of the
property that the Town in considering action relative to this matter and will discuss it at
their next meeting on October 1, 1984.
Lepal Counsel Request - Highway Department
The Board unanimously VOTED to refer the case of Brown J. Caidwell!s noncompliance with
Town ByLaws to Town Counsel to rectify the situation and authorize Town Counsel to proceed
with litigation if necessary.
.Request for Go Slow Children Sign on Second,Street
The Board received a request for a "Go Slow, Children" sign on Second Street,~.citing increased
traffic flow and excessive speeds in a~'residential area. VOTED to refer to the Chief of Police
for his recommendation - unanimously.
Stop'Sian Request - Marbleridge Rd. and Dale St. ':
Relative to a request by Madelyn: Hunt of 133 Dale St., the Police Chief recommends placement
of a stop sign at the intersection of Dale and Marbleridge Rd. VOTED to request the recommenda-
tion of Mass. DPW'.
Trombly Bus - Boston-Bound
Frank Trombly appeared before the Board to discuss where he should put' his Boston bus
during a layover. The Board felt that as long as Mr. Finneran is in agreement, Mr..Trombly
can continue to park behind Finneran's Pharmacy. Mr. Trombly asked the Selectmen to revie~
original plans with Lisa. Christine and Kenneth will follow up on this.
Textile Museum
Selectmen Kenneth Crouch requested authorization to persue alternative sites for the museum
within the Town.~ He added that the City of:Lawrence is presently trying to attract the museum
to that community. The Board VOTED unanimously to authbr~ize Selectman Crouch to work with
the Museum in persuing alternatives.
LICENSING COM~/IISSIONERS:
Hearine: Class II Application - John P. Dolan
A hearing was held on the above application.~:Abutters~voiced.concern over the unkept appearance
of the station at 9 Waverly Rd., and the intention of the Urban Systems Project to do away with
some parking spaces in that area. The Board requested Mr. Dolan Clean up the area and table
action on this until the October-gth meeting. Mr. Dolamadded that he will limit the sale of
used cars to two (2) and will be cutting down on his service business.
Application for Common Victualer - Holdlncl Pattern Restaurant
The Board approved an application for the transfer of a common victualer license at the Holding
Pattern Restaurant, Lawrence Municipal Airport, in the name of Joyce Pappalardo, 23 Phillips
Court, North Andover. Pro-rated at $8.00
