Coady, with Chairman Thomas J. McEvoy presiding. The minutes and warrant were approved as submitted. BOARD OF FIRE ENGINEERS: Board of Fire Engineers stated that they had voted to vacate, under protest, the office formerly occupied by the Veteran's Agent and presently used by Chief Daw. kqfi.le they did not agree that the proposed occupancy b~ the Town Clerk was proper, they would give up the office. In giving up the office, they accepted the offer of assistance in remodeling an area in the station for an office for the Chief. Creation of a suitahl, e office will require partitions and other s&terations and they w~uld meet with the Selectmen to discuss the re- modeling. They stated they would vacate the office as soon as the substitute facility is made ready for occupansy.. Chairman to inquire if architect can look at room for preliminary plans of office. LETTERS OF APPRECIATION: From Merrimack V-!!ey Textile Museum expressing appreciation for the help the Highw4y, Board of Public Works, Police and Fire Departments gave them on Sheep Shearing Day, May.15. From Alan Dustin, President of Boston & Maine Corp. for letter of appreciation sent. to him on the railroad tracks on Sutton Street. SPEED SURVEY: Letter from Chief Lawlor requested a speed survey of Salem Street, from Boxfored Street to the town line of Mtddleton. This request is the result of a petition of G. Blake Adams, 1634 Salem Street and other concerned citizens of the Salem Street area. Letter wI]1. be sent to Co,m.;ssioner John Carroll, State Department of Public Works. GAS EXCAVATIONS: Approved: Petitions to excavate to repair gas mains on Mass. Ave., at Marblehead St., 60 Saunders St. and Maple St, at Second Street. Selectmen'~ Training Seminar, Sheraton-Sturbridge. FIVE SELECTNEN: Selectmen Guthrie brought up the fact that a larger table and more space ~11 be necessary to seat the five. man Board voted at Towa Neeting. Selectmen, Guthrie was athorized to pursue the matter with the Vcc School. FRED MCCO~ACK: Chairman McE~oy was instructed to advise NcOormack that his car damage was sustained while the B & N Sutton St. crossing was under reconstruction by the Boston & Maine R.R. and they were responsible for ~11 vehicles driving over the crossing. Hud.~. application which is to be signed by Selectmen, submitted by. Housing Authority. Notion voted to endorse resolution subject to Town Counsel's approval as to form. Motion made and seconded to unanimously adopt the resolution. Chairman McEvoy declared motion passed.
