APPOINTMEETS: CIVIL D~FENSE:
Upon request of Civil Defense Director the following persons were appointed to different
Civil Defense positions: John J. Lyons, Ridgely B. Underwood, ~ichard P. Slads, R~ Dennis
Dionne, Leonard Somers, James P. Daw, Joweph W. Lawlor and Mrs. Evelyn J. Coco..
TOWN R~PORT COMNITTEE:
Letter from the To~m Report Comittee reported on their objective to' shorten' the report a~d
eliminate unnecessary details and to make the Town ~eport as concise and readable as possible.
The essay reports, after the Committee's review, contain unnecessary information that they
will request be eliminated f~s year. They also recommended that the details of the expen-
ditures of the various departments be eliminated this year. They stated that many other
Town Reports do not list this amount of detail. Selectman Guthrie did not agree that the
details be eliminated. Selectman Coady made a motion the Town Report Committee's
recomme~_tions be approved. Chairman McEvoy stepped down from the Chair to second the
motion. Selectman Guthrie was opposed. It was a majority vote 2' to 1. Selectman Guthrie
than made a motio.~o that the 1977 Town Report be dedicated to the late Town Counsel., Arnold
H. Salisbury. Notion seconded by Selectman Coady, ,,~nimons vote. The Board also voted
that a page in the Selectmen's Book of M~nutes be~l~ecated in memory of Arncld'Sslishury,
Town Counsel and former Selectman ~ho died suddenly on November 2, 1977.

Selectman Guthrie advised Board that he had requested, a Proclamation be written and Trained
to be presented to Joan Healey who had worked over II years with the gir2s in the Recrea-
tion Council and Booster's club and Rs retiring. It was so voted.

extension of unemployment insurance soverage to state and local employees,

Two petitions to excavate to install gas services on Autran Ave. and Milk
St. were approved.
~eceived Contract No. 2930.4 from State Depart. Public Works which was app-
roved. Copy was sent to Highway Surveyor requesting him to notify the
proper authorities when work is done. ~
Letter was received from Bd. of Public Works re Reynolds property repairs.
