GAS ALLOCATION:
Cy~' stated that the gas allotment ~ill be cut 20%...cannot operate on a cut. Brian directed
to survey all departments re gas needs.
Cyr also brought up the matter of the landfill...stated that the State was dragging its feet
and that the report was way overdue.
Cyr also brought up the matter or the railroad tracks running along Salem Street...stated
they should be preserved by the to~n for bicycle and horse trails. Board voted to have
Brian contact the Assessor's office to determine who o~ed adjoining property to the rail-
road bed and to contact the Merrimack Valley Planning Co~.~i~ssion. Report due June 18th.
BUSINESS SYST~ RESEARCH, INC.
'Letter received from above-named company advised the Board that subswquent to the approval
of its application for industrial revenue bonds by the Selectmen on May 21, 197~, the com-
pany had learned that the site it had inteuded to purchase would not pass the percolation
tests. The comp~.~ny has no alternative but to abandon its plan to purchase the site dee-
cribe in its application and must look elsewhere in North Andover for a suitable site.

'Letter received from the Custom Sentry Alarms, Inc. re the installation of mini alarms
in the Town Clerk and To~m Treasurer's office. ~fter considerable discussion,the Board
voted to have Brian check the cost of the installations. (.~Lu attached letter from Chief
Donnelly stated that there would be one initial cost of $65.00 per alarm and a $4.00
monthly maintenance fee. )
L~] ACQUISITION CO~ITTEE:
Letters received from designated Boards indicated their choice of representative to serve
on the Ad Hoc Committee for the possible land acquisition of 5~ acres of Smtem Street for
a recreation area in that vicinity. The Ad Hoc Committee will be as follows: Planning Bd.,
John J. /~onteiro, Jr., Chairman, Conservation Comnission, Steven Vounsssea, Board of Public
~orks, Ra2mond J. Canty, Booster Club, Joseph Walsh and Recreational Counci!~ William MaEvoy.
Letter ~*ill be sent to Chairman Manteiro requesting that he call the first meeting at his
earliest convenience and include Scott Follonsbee in the meeting. J. Cmthrie, or a represen-
tative of the Selectmon, ~ill attend.
GLOBE INSUPJ~CE:
Report received from the Royal Globe Insurance Company citing corrections needed at the Library
and certain schools. Copies ~.rill be sent to same with a request for a ~.r~itten report.
EOG OFFICER DIRECTIVE:
Chaiz~mau was authorized to sign the directive to the Dog Officer (By-Laxm) and Gene Northam
was directed to submit a progress report, quarterly. It was voted to advertise new By-Laws
penalty in a block ad and T o~m Clerk to notify all license holders of new By-Laws.
J. LA~fiDR, JR:
Letter received from J. Iawlor updating his status in the North Andover Police Department.
A rather confusing discussion ensued as to the status of our reserve and pe~-~an~ent police
positions. It was concluded by voting to have the police chief use reserve and provisional
policem~n to fill in job of injured police officer, Kendall, until Board can fill position
permanently.

Hoard invited to the annual Red Cross dinner meeting, June 12., Andover Couutry Club.
Letter from Essex County Selectmen's Association annual meeting, June 9, Colonial Restaurant.
SENGI COMPLAINT:
Letter re a complaint of parking for the 99 Restaurant received from Louis and Rose Sergi, 615
Massachusetts Ave. Complaint, which teas a personal maturer, referred to the Licensing Chairman
Mr. Salsibury, who said the letter would be sent to the ~hnager of the 99 Restaurant requesting
his cooperation in correcting the situation. Copy will be made for the Selectmen.
TO%~ BLDG. E~PLOTEES:
Letter containing a request for picnic table and chairs received from the town employees stating
many could not ~%]~ it home for lunch in ~ hour. They would like a place to eat their lunches.
Brian to find out how T o%m Garage acquired their picnic benches.
ASST. BUTIDING INSPECTOR:
Letter received from Charles Foster stated that he and Brian had interviewed the two
for the above-named position and the two-applicants have strong points in their favor. Of
the two', Mr. Chaput has had more actual experience and is very familiar %dth building con-
struction practices. Nr. Osgood has doue an excellent Job x~ith various to~en boards and
committees and familiar %rlth the various processes and functions of the t~n goverrmmnt.
Selectman Salisbury and Grahmau x.dll interview %.;ilfred Chaput and Gayton Osgood on Saturday,
June 9, at l0 and 10:15 A.M. Appointment will be made Juuo 18th.
TRAFFIC AGBE~2~,~:
Letter from Justin L. Radlo, P.E., Chief Engineer of the State Dept. of Public %~orks enclosed
a.n Agreement (4 copies ) to be signed by the Selectmen. Agreement is for the proposed Federal
H~ghway Safety Improvementat at seven (7) locations in the T own of North Andover. It x*ill
benefit the to%m by increasing public safety and capacity through the most efficient utilization
of the ways within the project area. He requested the Board review the toxea's by-!m.m before
to assure the required community approval. Copies ~,Ill be made for the Selectmen for
perusal before signing.
