coUNCIL ON AGING VAN:
After discussion, it was voted unanimously to authorized Louis Mtnieucei, Housing Direct%~,' to
advertise for bids on the new van for the Council On Aging.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE RESIGNATION:
Letter received re resignation of School Committee member, Joseph Guthrie.
Chairman to advertise for persons to fill vacancy.
Voted to authorize
PERSONNEL BOARD:
Ruth Ianazso, Chairman of the .Personnel Board, advised the Board that the Personnel Board will
revaluate all information obtained by the administrative employees. She outlined what the Personnel
Board will be proposing for the Article for the Town Meeting.
HOUSING DIRECTOR:
Board advised that Joseph Sstlek had been appointed Housing Director for the Community
Development office.
DR. LENTINI:
The Board voted to enter into contract with Dr. Lentine , an easement agreement ,for access of
his land pending Town Meeting action.

The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with ail members present: The
warrant was approved as submitted.
TOWN COUNSEL :
The Town~.Counel appointment committee met at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the consideration of recon-
structuring the contract retaining Legal Counsel~in North Andover. This meeting was at the
· request of the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Mike Stella. He stated that the current Town
Counsel, John Willis, had indicated his willingness to upgrade his retainer and eliminate some or
all of his Special Legal fees. The Advisory Board recognizes the fact that his current salary may
not be commensurate with the amount of work required by a Town of North Andovar's size. The
Advisory Board feels, however, that the ToWn Counsel appointing Board should have to opportunity
to meet with Willis and decide whether a change is indicated before this Board acts upon fundinglY
possible change. No action taken.
RT.114' curbing: .
Letter received from Sherman Eidleman stating that there was no record of the State taking any
curbing on Rt. 114 in the Town of North Andover over the past years. Voted to send .letter to
Highway Sur.veyor.
KIWANIS BIKE RACE: '
The Board of Selectmen granted permission to the Kiwanis Club to hold a bike race on June'lC,
rain date, June 19th. They also granted them a Common Victualer license to sell refreshments on
that dat. Police Chief will be so notified.
McDONALD'S RESTAURANT ' JAMES D'ANGELO:
James D'Angalo, Vanasse/Hangen, appeared before the Board to request that the Sal~ctmen send
4 sets of plans and a letter to the Dept. of Public Works requesting the installation of the traffic
light necessary before McDonald's sould open for business. Agreements must be signed between
the State and Town because the State will not do business with private companies. An agreement
must be also Signed between the Town and the builder. It was so voted~by the Board to 'execute
the agreements and send requested letter to the DPW.
MAIN & SUTTON STREETS:
It was reported by Vanesse/Hangen that there would be a delay in the installation of the traffic
light at the intersection of Main and Sutton Streets. It seems the state wants another estimate
done on Cashman's property. Selectman Graham could not understand the delay and requested
a run down on the sequence of events. It was voted to have the Board review the situation in
detail and to ·have Selectman Graham.take charge of the review. J..D'Angelo said he w.°.uld
submit a report from Vanasse/Hangen.
WORK PROGRAM-COMMUNITY ACTION, Inc.
The Board voted, to receive the.letter from Community Action, Inc. advising the Board that
they had been awarded, and is operating, the supported Work Program funded by the Department
of Public Welfare. They enclosed a concise explanation of the program operations 'and its ~oais
and obiectives.
FIRE DEPT.-ELECTRICAL WIRING:
Letter received from the Board of Fire Engineers citing the electrical repairs needed in .the
Fire Dept. It was voted to send lett~ to Town counsel requesting his advice whether or not
they could use the balance of the funds from an Article voted to up date the electrical wiring
in the Town Building. for the Fire Dept. building.
