Thomson made a motion that we refuse payment on the hill submitted by Alden Jsmes, for $50.00 for dental work, consisting of two porcelain caps for his' sob Donald, who was injured a~ the gymnasinm at Johnson HighS~hool on December 3, 1943, when a larger boy collided with him. Mr. Finneran.seconded the mo%ion-and vo%e was unanimous. Meeting adjourned.. The~regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7.00 P.M. with all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved as were 0.A.A. and A.D.C. payrolls. It waw voted to increase the budge~ figure requested for street lighting to $8707.92 to take care of eight lights installed i~ Janusryand February and any future lights installed within the year. Aletter will be sent to the Advisory Board explaining the reason for this increase in figures. A letter received fromthe Lawrence Gas & Electric Company pertaining to the removal of dimout shields. It was voted to have the Lawrence G & E. CO. proceed with the removal of the shields and nc reply will he'made'to this letter. Mrs. Raymond Maynard reported that approximately $252.00 was received for~ t~e' paperduring the paper salvage drive. 'Ahulletin on Wartime Planning was received from His Excellency Leverett S~ltonstall, Governor of the Commonwealt~ of Massachusetts (Selectmen's f~le) A letter was received from the Thompson and Lichtner Company explaining their charges, investigations and reports explaining their charges, investigations, and reports covering structures, of all kinds, including buildings, roads, air fields, Sewers, water mains, dsms and bridges.(Selectmen,s file) ~ulletin~received ch,.War Parents' Veterans' Readjustment Plan and filed under Selectmen's matters. The~'regular weekly meeting of the Boa2d of Selectmen was held at 7,00' P.M. with ~ members pres~ent. A petition was presented by Mr. Ernest E. 01ms of 15 Beech~A~enue in behalf of ~the other residents of that vicinity, to have' three lights installed; oneeon Beech Avenue, one at the'corner of Bosch'Avenue and Parker Street and one at the corner of Beeah Avenue and Mass. Ave. There are no lights from Greene Street to BayState Road on Mass. Ave. and~none at all on Beech Street. The Board decided to request ~ermission from the Lawrence G & E Co. to have these lights installed. Mr..Thomson stated~that he had been contactedby the State Engineer regarding the pond located on Peters' Street. It is overflowing and freezing on Peters Street causing ahazardous condition. Mr. Thomson believes that the matter should betaken up with Mr. Carry., A Icad of gravel has ~een dumped there to prevent further overflowing. This is town owned land. Mr. Foster will take the matter up.with'Mr. Car~y. A.request was received by Mr. Thomson from Alfred DeQuattro, of 27 Furbar Ave. that he' be appointed a Special Constable. As very little is known about Mr. De~uattro, it was voted to refer this matter to Chief McKee, before making an appointment. Mr. Thomeon stated that there had been e discussion between the Fire Denartment and the Police Depaetment on the ambulance. Mr. Thomnon felt that this'matter should be taken up with the Advisory Board and al~o have the two Chiefs attend th~e meeting. NO.date waq s~t for this meeting.
