,... The regular'weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7~00 P.M. with
~ ',~all~ ~embers present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
i~ ~ ~Leo M~rphy came before the Board to ask what kind of bonds were to.~be purchased
~if.an~, snd who ~would buy them. Mr. Thomson said he felt that it was up. to the
.Treasurer of the town'to take care of thismatter as he had always bought~ any
bond~.pUrchased in. the past.
Members of the Advisory Board, Board of Engineers and the Chief of Police came
before the Board to discuss thematter of a 7~% increase for the Call Fireman and
also'itodiscuss the matter of the ambulance.
Chief Hargreaves discussed the increase and said he felt that the men were e~titled
to thisincre~se . He said he would have sufficient money to take care of thms
increase if they did not hire two extra call men. Chief Hargreaves said they would~
notbe paid un~il the end of the year. Mr. Holt of the Advisory Board felt that~
this increase should be taken from the Fifo Department appropriation, since it was
so.much larger than last yeaz. Chief Hargreaves explsined that it was
the same amoun~ appropriated and added that there wa~ a Special Town Meeting in
1943.for. additional funds and also a transfer from the Reserve Fund. Mr. Thomson
asked the Advisory Board for their psrsonal opinion in the matter of the increase.
and they agreed unanimously that the call menshould receive the 7~% increase.
~f'two~more drivers are taken by the Department, the expense will only be appro~i-
mately$150 more. Mr. Thomson suggested that we earmark $200 from the Reserve
Fund~to mee~ this expense if necessary.
