STATE AID: State aid was approved for Sophia Eane $10.00 Ruth Carey $10.00 Margaret Twomey ~10.00 and War Allowance for Cordelia Earley $20.00 and Thomas Connors$13.00 Regular weekly meeting held at 7.00 P.U. with all members present. Weekly bills and psyrolls were approved. PETITION LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC CO: to cancel two poles on B~adfo~d Street. No hearing necessary. Mr. Thomson made a motion ~o grant petition and cancel orders for two poles, which was seconded by Mr. Finneran and vote unanimous. Will be discussed on May 15, 1944. · TREE P~OVAL: Johm ~. 'C'nnors received a request to have a tree removed at 7 Parker Street, residenge of Frank Bernhardt. Tree is very large and roots are interferring with garden and lawn. Hearing will be held on ~ay 22, 1944 at 7.30 P.M.. ST. MICHAEL,S RECTORY: Letter received from Rev. Father Culhane p~titioning the Board of Selectmen to instruct the Water Department mo provide ~ · wa~er service to be used for a sho~er arrangement at the Parish, Grounds,~9~ provide for the ~hildren and adults of this part of the town. Mr. Thomson suggests that we confer with the Board of Public Works, (Mr. Dully) and in the meantimeanswer the letter. Mr. Finneran seconded the motion and vote was unanimous..'Mr. . Thomson stated that this matter comes under a department ~ntire!yseparate over which we have no jurisdiction. Mr. Olms of Beeach Avenue came before the hoard and presented a letter from the W.P.B. dated April 22, 1944 stating thathe can make an appeal, to t~e Lawrence Gas and E!ac~rlc Company providing that they are willing to cooperate with him i~ this matter. ~t will be necemsary for the Lawrence Gas &Electric. Company to file the appeal with the o~fice of~ar stated that they were grateful for the Utilities in Washington, D.~ C. Mr. O~ms two lights installed recentlybut they . Feel that the middle of the street is so very dark that they wou~d prefer to have the light o~ pole #227 transferred to pole # 3106, if this could be ~rranged. He said there had been two roberriss in the neighborhood within a shor~ time and they would appreciate anything the board could do to help straighten this matter out. Mr. Foster explained that when tbs three lights were requested, there'~was~sufficient money to ta~ care of them but after the refusal of the W.P.B. to install the third light, a request was sent in for a street in a different section of the town and now there is mo~ sufficient to cover expense of another light. ~. Olms explained that nineteen families would benefit by the chan~ing of this light~~ .Four persons now benefit by the light On the corner. The request is to move the Mr. Thomson informed the Board that he had conferred with City Cl~k Cordon Caffney of Lawrence ~bout the refinishing of Clark Street, which was supposed to have been done last fall by the city.
