CLAIM:Ii~:letter was received from Mrs. Flora McCubbin, stating that she
had received an injury ~o her knee ~hich necessitated the attention of a'
physician. She also tore her stocking and ruined a dress. Mrs. MsCubbin
asks for reimbursement for the clothing and doctor's fee. The total
amount if $19.27. It was voted unanimously to pay this amount from Contingent
Fund.
MEMORANDUM - COST OF LIVING: A memorandum was received from the Department
of Labor and Industries relative ~othe cos~ of living during the!month
of September 1944 which shows a :decline of about 1/3 of 1% over the month
of August.

R~O~AL OF DOGS-HEARING at 7.30 P.M. Petition of Michael Cai~,'29~,i~iBdles~ ~t~?
A hearing was held relative to the removal of.two dogs owned by'J~h~
of 300 Middlesex Street. Chief McKee~was present at the hearing a~.~t~the.;
request of Mr~Thomson, the Chief stated that he had been askedb~.,M~i~KA~il;,~.,
t~ do what he could about haVing the dogs removed. He went to' the Dine~n~home
and was told that a man from Florida was planning to 'take the dogs~id~w4~the~e
but they were unable to get in ~ouch with him'. They did not feelt~the~.
should dispose of the dogs as they costa considerable sum of mo~e~and.he:
requested~more time to dispo'se of the dogs. ~ .~.~ ',~ ....
Mr. ~ohn J. Dineen then stated that hewas not the owner of the dogs.~.~they,
are registered to John P. Dineen, and he feltthat this hearing was not.in
order under the circumstances ....
Mrs.-John W. Judahn of 281~Middlesex S~reet was next to d~scuss this .ma~er.
She said she sp~ke With no feeling of enmity towards Mr. & Mrs. Dineen as she
had always respected Mrs. Dineen very highly but the dogs are mertainly a
nuisance and all summer they woke her up. She has a nervous stomach and has
been unable to get the rest she requires. She cannot see why a technicalit~~
mentioned by Mr. Di~een,.c~n ~Tect this ma~ter. She said she cannob see
why the neighborhood should be penalized by these yelping dogs and the~.cer-
tainly are a nuisance.
Mr. Dineen said, at'this point, that Mrs. Judson was always against ~verything
that the neighbors have tried ~o do and that she should move ou~ if. she'~is not
sa~isfied. Mr. Foster then asked that personalities be left out of this
discussion.
