Meeting Adjourned to attend the Hearing on the petition of'Raymond Jensen
for a ~ransfer of the package s~ore license to 1ZO Main Street. Hearing
was held in the room upstairs in the Fire Station.
Meeting re-opened 9:30 P.M.
PLAYGROUNDS:
The matter of the appointment of caretakers for ~the.playgrounds was held
over until next'week.
SEALER OFWEIGHTS AND MEASURES:
The appointment for Sealer of weights and measures w~s held over for. another
week.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:.
Mr. Thomson stated that the Town voted to gran~ an increase %o the Police a%
the Town Meeting. The Town Meeting ha~ no~ri~ht~o*~s~t ~alaries. It is
our recommendation to increase salaries.
M=. F~ster said that the people signified their intention to i~crease the
salaries of allemployees.
The Board then voted unanimously ~o grant the following increases: Chief of
Police- $2801.90; Sergeant - $2532.30; Patrolmen-$2352.90. Vote of the
Board was unanimous.
Meeting Adjourned:
APRIL 2, 1945:
The weekly meeting was held at 7:00 P.M. with all members present. Weekly
bills and payrolls were approved.
APPOINTMENTS:
Appointment forms for all Constables were signed by the board and' mailed ~o tho
appointees.
PROBATE COURT: Abbie S. Armitage estate:
A copy of a citation was received requesting all persons interested in this
estate to.file a. written appearance in said court a~ Salem before ~en otclock
in the forenoon .of April 16, 1945, if they' desire to object, to the petition
presented. The Board voted to refer this matter to C. J. Mahoney for his
attention. Filed' under Selectmen's matters.
P~MOVAE OF TREES:
Reques% for removal of a tree on Highland Terrene opposite 23 HighlAnd Terrace,
by Nora A. Brennan of Turnpike Street was received and the board voted to post
the tree and set a hearing for April 9, 1945 am 7.30 P.M.
Request for removal of a tree on 24 Highland Terrace, by Ralph H. Manahan of
24 Highland Terrace was accepted and the board voted to pos~ the tree and' set
a hearing for April 9, 1945.
