HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-05-07May 7, 1945- continued SPECIAL CONSTABLE:' John Corrigan of Herrick Road requested that he be appointed a Special Constable which was granted unanimously by the board. C0[~PLAR~T: Mr. Finneran had received a complaint about the crossing on Sutton Street at the B & M Station. The board voted to take this matter up with the Chief of Police and request a report on same. COMPLA~T: A complaint mas received from Mr. Elliott of Tolland Road ~o the effect that his boat had been damaged by bullets~oresumably fired by boys. The board feels that there should be some protection ~rom the Police Department in the area of the Lake and suggested that the matter be taken up with theOhief of Police end ~equest a written:report. STREET LIGHTS ON STREETS NOTACCEPTED: The La~r~ence Gas & Electric will install street lights on any street in. the' town if permission iSrequested by the Board of Selectmen. The request of Adam Ceplikas was not granted as. Concord Street is not an accepted street and the board felt that they could not have a light installed unless there, was a very good reason for ~this request. PLANNING BOARD: ~r. Thomson stated that the Planning Board as of their own initiative they would request that.a special ~own meeting be held on May28, at 7.30 R.~.;% in the S~lectmen's Office, with respect to a revision of Zoning by-laws:.~. · ~especially~the property now owned by Annie L. S. Gila at .the corner o~Main · and Second Streets relative to changing the locationfrom a residential,to a business area. Mr. Thomson stated that the proposed buyer vill buy. the propermy if it is.ina bus'ness area, not residential. The present building will.be torn down and a business and residential block will be erected.-~I~ may be possible that a new pos% office will be located there. This sal~wiil· not be consummated unless this change is made. - To refuse to have this.change ~made is stopping the growth of the ~own.
