AMERICAN MUTUAL LIABILITY INSURA~ICE
A letter explaining the insurance this Company is able to offer but no action was taken.
The Bgard of Selectmen came in to sign the Warrant and approve the weekly bills to-day. There
will be no regular weekly meeting and for the remainder of June, all July and August
the selectmen will meet every other Monday as of June 4, 1945.
FIRE ATAARONIAN'S PROPERTY:.
A letter was received from Mr. Charles A. McCarthy, Oounge!lor at Law relative
to th~s fire add it was voted to turn this letter over to Mr. Mahoney for his
advice and disposition.

~rom this Corporation asking for information on Daniel A. Doyle wa~
duly answered and returned at once.

The/weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7.00 P.M. with all'
members present. Weekly bills and ~yrolls were approved.
FIRE DEPARtmENT-Fire Chief ~BALLDT,..~. ~t
Leo Murphy came before the Board to discuss the item in the Eagle Tribune to
the effect that Chief James Hargreaves is now under civil service. Mr..Murphy
felt suite sure that this vms an error and should have had another sentence
stating that this would have to go on the ballot at the ne~t annual town meetin'g.
Mr. Foster ~tated that it was his understanding that it should go on the .ballot
but he also stated that the Selectmen did no~ pum the item in the paper and could
not say whether it was correct or not.
Mr. Thomson stated-that a referendem must be presented and that a vote 0f the
town is necessary:.beforeTtbe~,Eatter can be settled.

equipment as listed by the Federal Government and this statement was sent~%o
Mr. Rockwell to be paid from Civilian Defense appropriation.
GROGAN'S FIELD:
Mr. Dmffyhad stated that the water bills for Jannary 1945, ~ad not.been paid
and he made the suggestion that the bills for ~rogan's ~Field. be presented in
this office and bills made out here and a complete record kept. This would
help eliminate contracting bills over and above the appropriation. The
,Board agreed with this suggestion ~nd a letter will be sent toM r. Rivet ·
advising him of this change. At present, the bills from the Drummond Memo~i~i
PlaYground are 9pproved by Mr~ Cushing and brought to this office_to, be made
. out for payment and a record ~s kept here.
STEVENS HALL:
Permission was given to the Community Center to use Stevens Hall on June 20,1945.
to hold a Pop ConEert. If weather permits, the affair will be h~ld outside but
it was deemed advisable to have aplace to hold the concert in 'the event 'of a
rainstorm.
GROGAN'S PLAYGROUND:
Rev. Cornelius Heyn came before the Board and made the suggestion that we
again have a supervised playground at this field and asked if it would be possible
to pay the supervisor from the Playground appropriation at Grogan's and have
a transfer made at a later date if required. It will cos~ approximately ~
$120.00 for the summer and a request will be sent to the Advisory Board for their
approval to use thismoney.
LAWREJ~CE GAS&ELECTRI¢..G0~ANY:
A letter confirming a pre~icus telephone converstaion with~4r. George Frost
advising this board that the Lawrence Gas & Electric Co. are planning to
start removal of the poles along Sutton Street, North Andover, on er about
June 2~, was received. Mr. Thomson stated that it would be necessary for them
to s e~d a petition along to the board before they can start removing the poles.
STATE GUARD:
An invitation was received from the James J. Montanero Unit #40, Mass. State
Guard Veterans the of Selectmen to attendthe installation of .the
State Guard Unit on June 22nd. at 8.P.M. to attend if lib!e.
