· ': ~'spe'cfal meeting was held at the request of the Bathing Beach Committee to
discuss the problem at the Bathing Beach. It has been almost impossible to
getilife guards to take over this year with the exception of a girl who has
..... ~ ,already been appointed. Freeman Hatch 3rd, and Lido Montanero who were the /
~guards last year. do not wish to have it this year.
~Y '~ames Barman, chairman of the Committee stated that he believed
~ '~ have had a more mature girl last year but he felt

Mr: Barman also suggested that he felt that the present committee had served '.

members but only four of them have been'ective for the ~st two years. Those
' ~ I :WHo attended the 'me~ting were James Baunan, Ernest Smith, Zrving Howes and

It was decided to advertise for life guards and the committee will make their
· · appointment on Thursday evening after applications have been received. In
·., '" the' meantime Miss Constance Fitzgerald will be on duty as head life guard and
i.~ Chief McEee will b~ contacted and .asked to have a special officer on duty from

turned on. It was voted not to open the beach officially until all arrangements

Frank' W. Lee of 399 Main Street was appointed a special constable at the

GROGAN'S Fr~,D' PLAYGROUNN:
Mr. Ri-ket stated that the bleachers are about ready to be painted and asked
if. bids would be sent out or if he would get what help was available. It
waS-voted to. contact the local painters and ask their prices and have it
ready for next Monday evening.
