all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
LAWRENCE GAS & ~LECTRIC COMPANY
A petition was received requesting permission to abandon and remove poles and
fixtures on the northerly and southerly sides of Sutton Street, froma .poi~t
approximately 670 feet easterly from Wood Avenue, easterly 6 poles.
Mr. Thomson made a motion to se~ down the petition for a hearing to be held
July 16, 1945 at 7.30 P.M. in the Selectmen,s office. He advised that.the
City of Lawrence, N.E. Tel.& TE1.Co. as well as abhuttors be notified.
Mr. Thomson stated that it would cost over $400 to take care of the fire
alarm wires when these poles are moved.
STREET LIGHTS:
A request from Augustine Oskar of 36 WalnutAvenue to have three street lights
installed on the following poles, was received:
Pole # 1092 on Mass. Ave. corner of Walnut Ave.
2276- onParker Stree~ at the corner ofW~lnut Ave.
3152-on Walnut Ave. between Mass. Ave and Parker Street.
If only one light is installed they would prefer to have it on pole # 3152.
Zt was moved and seconded that Mr. Finneran investigate.the conditionon
Walnut Avenue and report to the board at a later date.
PLAYGROUND-Grogan,s Field
The bids received for painting the' bleachers were as follows: Frank Smith $450.00
Mr. Nocera $260 for one coat and $520 for two coats_of paint.
William Taylor is too busy to take on this work.
Zt was voted to inquire if Mr. Smith's bid included two coats of paint and
to report at the ne~t meeting.

Mr. Mah~ney sent in a report in reply to a registered notice of Petition filed
by Henry C. Seaver~ Charle~ E. Reith and Everett ~?. Anderson, trustees under the
will of Addie S. Armitage othe~ise .~ownas Abbie S. A~mttage.Mr. Mahoney
states that it is ~lear that the Town of North Andover ~s ~ntitled totwc
amounts heretofore stated: the ~eposit in the Salem 5~ Savings Bank- $1464.65
and the deposit in the Home Savings Bank $ 2060.40 and such amount of interest
as wasrecovered on these partic61ar claims in the suit against the Bonding
Com?n~, whic~ has no~ been spectfi~ially set out in the Decree, minus
such charges zor servmces of c6unsel ~e~ the Court may make, rip-ares Which can
nom be determined at tht~ time. He is pressing for an early distribution of
the estate and sumitted this as a progressive report. ~ '
DEPART~ENT 0FLABOR AND INDUSTRIES:
A cost of living index was received showing that the cost of living index showed
an upward trend.
BUILDING INSPECTOR:
The board inquired about a shack which has been built ou LymanRoad a~d .voted
to contact Mr. Lawlor to see if a permit had been issued for this shack. This
will be done before the next meeting.
LOAN.AGENCY ~F THE RECONSTRUCTION FINANCE CORPORATION:
Special listing of s~rplus property a~ailable to government agencies was received
and is on filedin the Selectmen's folder.
SELECTMEN,S ASSOCIATION
A letter was received urg~'mng all the Selectmen to contact their Legislators
and ask them to vote for the $15,000,000 when the Bill comes to a vote, relative
to the so-called Port of Boston Auth~zity Bill. All Legislators will becontacted.

weekly payrolls and approve the bills.

HEARING- REMOV~J~ OF POLES ON SUTTON STREET-
~ hearing on the petition of the Lawrence Gas and Electric Company for the
removal of poles and fixtures from the northerly and southerly at a'.~oint
approximately 670 feet easterly of Wood Avenue was held at 7:30 P.M."Henry
Barry, representative of the Lawrence Gas & Electric Company stated that the
plan was mo abandon the pole locations on Sutton and re-route ~he line up
Chadwick Street and he felt that the system had already been installed'on
