McAloon to Alicia D. McAloon, dba North Andover Restaurant at 46-48 Main Street. PRECINCT OFFICERS: .The matter of appointment precinct officers ~o fill vacancies was held over until the next meeting of the board. DOG DAMAGE CLA~: A. claim that 26 small chickens valued a~ $1.00 each and 3 large chickens valued at~2.$O each was made by Joseph P. Grande of 193 Main Street. Chickens were killed on July 29, 1945 by unknov~n dogs a~ 307 Clark Street. Claim was sent in to County Commissioners. LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC CO. A notice received that ~ 100 candle power street light was installed on Pole No. 2125 at Lexington Street at the cerner of Concord Street on July 9, 1945. DEPARTMENT OF C0~,~ERCE-SURPLUS PROPERTY: Considerable reading material was received relating to priorities of government agencies with inst~uctions and all information required. Various lists of available proper~ywere included and a copy of the Office of Price Administration I~PR 134 ,July 14,1945 was also received. No action was taken -_and~ this information is filed under SURPLUS PROPERTY in Selectmen's File.' DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORES-P~BLIC HEARING Augus~ 6,1945. A notice was received by each member of the Board to the ~ffect that a Public hearing will be held August 6, 1945, relating to public roads, in accordance with the progisigns of Section 1. C?mpter 81 of the Gen. Laws. (Tar. Ed), Court House a~ Salem at 11:00 A.M. MEETING ADJOURNED. The by-monthly meeting of the Board of Selectmen WaSlhe!d on this date with all members present~ Weekl~ bills and payrolls were approved. CO~JPLAINT- FALLING TREE. James P. Phelan of 71 First Street came before the board to discuss a cost of repairs on his house, the d~mage having been caused by a large limb which fell during a storm and struck his roof and tore the wires from the building, him to be without lights for two days. ;kr. Phelan stated that~kr. Connors, tree w~arden had trimmed the mree several times but he also stated that he did not feel that the damage was mused by ~. Connors not taking the limbs off the tree. Mrs. Phelan had felt quite sure that this particular limb had been cracked before the storm and they had intended to ask for permission to have '~his tree removed but had neglected to do thio. The cost of repairs will be? $40.00 according to Mr. Phelan'sestimatewhich was made by an electrician a~ .... Davis & Furber Co. The Board voted to 'continue this matter ~ntil August 27, 19~5 and have ~. Cormc~'s come in to the meeting, nlso I~r. Phelan. It has not been determined whether or not the town can reimburse for this work. Martin of Church Street came before the Board to see if rent can be allowed for qur_~ters to hold the meetings of the newly formed . of the Veteran's of ForeignWars. Mr. Martin stated thst there ere about 25 members in the Post and 20 members in the Au~liarybut that no charter had been made as yet. Post Mol is 1758. Mr. Finneren made the suggestion that perhap~ the Franklin School could be used temporarily for the remainder of this year and m~til the town meeting in March. The Board felt that this was a good suggestion as did Mr. Martin. Mr. Thomson suggested that Mr. ~artin contact I..{r. Pitkin, also Mr. Rockwell and Dr. Holt and see what arrangements can be made. ~LEMWONE & TELEGRAPH CQ.
