Letter received from B & M Tailroad in reply to our letter regarding the
continued whistling of trains going 'through this town, which states that the
mat~er will be checked and corrected if there is any unnecessary blowing.

An invitation was received inviting the Board to attend the installation of
officers a~ 'the North Andover Club House on September 24, 1945 a~ 8:00 P.M.
The Board voted Zo accep~ this invitation and acknowledge same.
THEE RE~i0VAL PETITI0~
A request for ~ne removal of a large ~ree which is causing trouble with the
sewer, was received from Charles Kershaw of 23 Commonwealth Avenue. The Board
voted to refer this ma%~er to the ~ree Warden and have the tree posted if he
agrees that it should be removed.

A Juror, Earl L. Poster of 135 Poster Street, Mechanic, was drawn by Harry
Foster ~o serve a~ the Superior Criminal Court, Lawrence on September 20,1945.

i~r. Thomson made the suggestion thnt something be done to pro~ect children
from similar accidents as the one which happened recently when Thomas Donovan
fell into the SuttonsMill Pond and was dro~m~d. ~r. Thomson felt that the
"Dizzy Bridge" was extremely dangerous and that if the owners could sit in with
the Board of Selection and have a consultation about this condition, some
form of protection may be made for theufuture. Letters will be sent to the
owners and reques~ that they mee~ with.this Board.
LAWRENCE D~P-C0~P. LAINT
I~r. Thomson suggested that we write to Mayor Meehan of Lawrence regarding the
complaints made ~o this Board about the smoke and odors coming from the dump
and which had been reported ~o Alderman Carney. No reply was received after
three weeks and the ~,~ayor will be asked to do what he can ~o remedy
OFFICE OF THE SECP~ETARY:
An application for a certificate of incorporation, as provided for in Chapter
180 of the General Laws, Tercentenary Edition, under ~he name of 'the Duke Lake
Club, Inc. for the purpose of establishment and maintenance of places for social~
and recreational p~rposes was received. Application made by William W. Bolton,
President, 12g Presco~m St. and William A. Barrell, 206 Johnson St. and six
others, no~ residents o~ Horth Andover. This was approved by the Board
of Selectmen and returned ~o the Secretary of the State.
LA~JENCE FIRE DEPART;~NT
Letter of thanks for assistance and equipmen~ given during our recen~ drowning
accident was sent to the above department on suggestion of Mr. Thomson.

Request for approval of the continued provisional appointment of W~ni~red

NORTH PARISH ROAD-END OF GREEI~ST. NO. A~0VER
The condition of this road was discussed and the condition of the dump there.
It was suggested that perhaps something could be done by writing to the
County Commissioners if this is a county road. This will be checked with the
Assessors and a letter written if necessary. Mr. Thomson stated that this
street is in a deplorable condition and also that the dump is being used to
SUCh extent that the dumping is ou~ in the middle of the road.
