The Veterans are coming in azd each veteran must have photostatic copies of their discharge papers. Mr. Thumaon unde~dtauds that Andover and Lawrence a~e doing this for the Veterans and there 'is/no charge. Others must pay: for these copies and they send them to Saunddrs Studio and are hharged for them. Mr. Flanagan stated that original discharge papers midst be sent in before they can get the bonus. Originally town clerks kept records of discharges and gave a certified copy to the veteran. The law changed in $eptember and now 'the headings in the book .kept by the town clerk does- not conform to discharge papers. Mr. Flamagan has four types, Navy, Army, Marines and Merchant {arines. Mr. Flnnagan now gets a copy from the Selective Service Board and~ai~lbheiiit to regular form. October 29,1945-continued Mr. Flanagan stated that the assessors must sign the form for residence. Mr. Flanagan will cheek with Saunders Studio and get their price and if this can be arranged, the town will pay the expense. Boards of Selectmen in the towns in Essex 0ounty are requested to submit their requests for 0hapter 90 Roads ~on~truction for 19467 not later .than November 20, 1945. This was referred to the Hfghway 'Surveyor. WRENOE G S & ELECTRIC COMP'-. Three old requests' for street lights which had been taken'uzder advisement,'i were discussed again. Mr. Thomson made a motion to request the installation of these three lights. Motion was seconded ~y Mr. Flnneran .and voted unanimously. The three lights will be installed on Pole # 799 at the corner of Perley Road and Zr~ing Road; Pole #1065 at 143.Mass.' Ave. and at 6 Glenwood Ave. in fron~ of the Sorbello property. Request.will:be sent to the Lawrence Gas & Electric Company. FIRE DEPARTMENT APPROPRIATION: Mr. Maker discussed the Fire Department appropriation which has been used incorrectly from the various appropriatio~s as set up~at the annual towm meeting. Mr. Maker explained that it is not the right thiug to dc according to. fha law~ to ~ransfer from one appropriation'to another, without a special town meeting. Mr. Thomsoh suggested that the matter be taken ~p againat a later date when the correct figures will be available and if necessary -a town meeting cam-be held. ' - Mr. Foster informed the other members thaT. Mil'ex Higg~ talked with him and stated that Suttons Mill ~ould consider the matter of building a fence. ' arou~ the pond but at this time it is very difficult to obtain this. particular -kind of fence. Mr. 'Harry ~utten"confirmed this report~ and stated that as soon as the fence could he obtained, they would erect one. There has been no statement from M. T. Stevens ¢~mpany. ' ERTIFICATE OF ER!r?- M-~:S- ~JSETTS STATE GU' ~r .A certificate of merit, ~sig~e4 by Governor Tobin and awarded to the Officer~~ an~ Enlisted Men of the 26th Company, 24th Infantry of the Massachusetts State Guard, was receive~accompauled by a letter from the AdJutant,~ General' s Office. The letter requested that this certificate be given conspicuous public'~ace. Mr. Thomson suggested that the form be presented through 0aptain Howard to the State Guard Association.
