EP~RTMENT OF CORPORATIONS AND TAXATION~ In reply ~o our inquiry as to the situation regarding pres~ntfunds voted and invested in the purchase of war bonds as authorized by the provisions of 'Chapter 5, Acts of 1943 for a post-war rehabilitation fund, they are not available. If an amendment to Chapter 5 becomes effective, we will be so notified and it appears obvious~that the time has come to use some of the funds invested in war bonds and s proposed amendment ma~ be made after being dubmitted to the 1946 Legislature. Mr. Carty came .before the' Board to discuss the m~ney required to payfor the expense of snow removal during the recent snow storm on November 30,1945. Mr. Carty suggeste~ that a spe~ial'~own meeting be held to raise sufficient money to meet the expenses. Mr. Maker presented figuresshowing the balance but he also stated that a special town meeting must be held to raise the money required unless there is sufficient money in the Reserve Fund. Mr. Maker stated that in 1940 an emergency was declared but at that timethere was s sufficient amount of money in the Reserve Fund to meet the' needs.' Mr. Elliott, also felt. that we cou~ld not p~y these bills without a Special Town Meeting. ~Mr. Mahoney Was present at the meeting and he explained that an emergency may be declared, but t~e question as. to how the ~oney can be raised must be'. considered. He 'said ~hat i~,there.ia not sufficient in the Reserve Fund to meeth these .needs, then there must be a Special Town Meeting. Mr.'Foster felt that these bills should be paid so that the people~who earned the money would not have to wait for it. He suggested that Mr.Maker borrow the money After much discussion Mr. Thomson made a momion that we vo~e to transfer · from the Reserve Fund $700 , to theBighway Department for snow removal labor bills. Mr. Thomsom made a motion that a Special Town Meeting be held on December22, 1945 at ~wo o'clock P.M. in the Ccurt Room to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds s sum of mo~ey to meet the bills contracted by the Highway Department, and any other business that may come before the meeti: Mr. Thomson made a second motion that if Mr. Mahonay finds that a Special Town Meeting is not required the Special Town Meeting ~ill be cancelled. Both motions were seconded and voted unanimously. A request signed by six property owners asking that Glenwood Street be by the Board of Selectmen. Request was signed by Fred ~iltcn, Leo Gucciardi, Salvatore Sorbellm, Tom Midolo, Sam Commersole, and Stefano ~aruso. The Board voted to hold a public hearing sometime iz January on this matter and also will request that the Planning Board notify the Selectmen of any other .streets which are ready for acceptance so that adjudication of all s~eets ready for acceptance may be taken care of at the same time. DEPARTME_NTOFPUBLIC WORKS- STOP SIGNS A traffic sign permit and plan of same was received from Mr. Edgar F. Oopell, Traffic Engineer giving approval of isolated stop signs which will be erected at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue. These signs may be enforced under the department's rules of the road, Section 17, which req' to
